You can switch on and off, the build quality is very good

Multi socket
Great but would be much more convient with independent rocker switches so that you could switch some off when not using rather than having to remove them so they are not on standby.

Compact extension lead with some practical considerations
I tend to be a bit careful around anything related to electrical power, I’ve heard too many horror stories about stuff bursting into flames and so on. To that end I only go with reputable brands and in terms of extension leads I consider Mastrerplug to be one. It is a bit more expensive than some other extension leads but I’m happy to pay more if it means my house won’t be burnt down. This is a compact six plug extension. The cable, while advertised as 2m is actually a bit less from plug to the plugs. The additional plugs are housed in a compact (about 8 inches by 4) body made of sturdy, if cheap and shiny plastic with three on each side. It includes two USB type B ports, a surge protector indicator and single power button. Plugs are not individually switched. In basic terms, it turns a single wall socket into six and is great for a television unit or computer desk and it works perfectly well for that. Things worth bearing in mind before purchasing:• As per the picture image the sockets are fixed with the single earth pin at the bottom. If you have a plug which extends above this it won’t fit.• The two USB ports have 3A between them. You’re not going to be fast charging anything with this but I can confirm it powers a Raspberry Pi 3+ quite happily.• The plastic body of the unit is sturdy but the plastic looks and feels quite cheap (and is very shiny). Bear in mind if the unit will be on display.• Surge Protection explicitly does not protect against lightning strikes (which to be fair most home appliances don’t) but rather shorts in devices plugged in to this.• The sockets are not universally switched. All power is controlled by a single push button on the top of the unit which glows a discreet blue when powered on. It also loses its on/off status when powered off at the wall.In summary, it’s okay, if a bit pricey compared to a standard six plug extension - you pay a premium for the compact design. Does what it says it does, just bear in mind the orientation of the sockets. If I was buying again I’d probably chose something else.
