Just made my first batch of sauerkraut! These Glass Weights fit perfectly in my jars and kept the cabbage submerged during the entire process. Extremely high quality glass; very easy to clean; does not leave an after taste; highly durable and perfect for job! As far as versatility, I guess the weights can actually be used for other things - paper weight, etc.... But, for my needs - they are perfect for fermenting. Thank You!

These weights are perfect for keeping food in jars from floating to the top where air can cause mold. They are just the right size for a wide mouth jar, and heavy enough to be effective. They are made of glass, that makes them easy to clean. There's only one issue- you can't pick them up using the center "handle". There is an angle on that "handle" that makes them almost impossible to grab hold of. Your fingers slip right off. I put up 4 jars of sauerkraut and used these weights on top of the cabbage. I guess I have about 30 days to figure out how to get these weights out of the jars.
