Russell's Christmas Magic: A Christmas Holiday Book for Kids

Is this a Christmas tale that your child will remember for decades to come? Probably not. But it's a nice story and the pictures are gorgeous. The reindeer, in particular, are wonderful. I'm picking up a copy for our house, we love the Russell tales, and this is a nice addition to our stash of Christmas books.

I can't get over how much my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter loves Russell. In Scotton's books about Splat the Cat, Russell or Froggie always get a cameo as well. Very endearing and gentle, even though the 'saving Christmas' story seems overdone among children's books perhaps because kids like the idea of having plan B, C, D, ZZ 'just in case'.

Rob Scotton's artwork really is amazing and I love exposing my daughter to it, she thinks Russell is the funniest thing in the world and we enjoy his stories. The story itself is not as cool as the Russell and the Lost Treasure or Russell the Sheep but still a valuable addition to our library.

Russell the sheep is a favourite character in our house, he is funny and gets up to some amazing adventures. My 19 month old kisses him every time and wants them read over and over. I love the christmas side of it, and he loves the colours too.

Beautiful illustrations. Cute story, though I thought references to "the Christmas spell" unnecessarily detracted from the meat of the story and overcomplicated it for the young audience. Overall the book has a magical Christmas feel to it that makes it nice to have around during the holidays.

This is a really a Wonderful story with beautiful/colorful illustrations! The 1st grade children I purchased for loved the book!

I read this story to my second grade class and they loved it. The book is out of print now so I was glad to purchase it and I found one at the local town library. The illustrations are beautiful but the story was just okay.

A delightful Christmas story for children. It gives meaning to Christmas that is important. The pictures are very good. It is easily understood.

Now we are familiar with the old favourite "Twas the night before Christmas" but I have found a great addition to the must have Christmas book. Having read the other Russell the SHeep books and having found them so enjoyable it was great to see a festive one in the collection. It is written in rhyme but is so much better than the other rhyming favourite "The Gruffalo".Its tells the story of how Russell saves Christmas after Santa has an accident. The book is large and is great to read out loud and have the kids look at the brilliant pictures as you (or they) read the story.Don't want to spoil the story but to say it was a great book is an understatement and it is so good we had recently moved house and as we were desperate to get this read at Christmas as our origional copy was in the boxes somewhere we had to buy another copy and quick. The first purchase along with a variety of items were sent by Amazon by Courier but the courier left the parcel "on top of the shed" but as we were in a terraced street with no front gardens let alone a shed it seems that they must have left it at the wrong address and someone else had the pleasure of a Russells Christmas this year. We did at least manage to get another copy sent out in time for Christmas so all was well.I would suggest that Amazon look at their couriers and get them to leave a note and not leave the parcels in silly places to be stolen or even delivered at the wrong address.So please have a more modern Christmas book and havce the pleasure of seeing the kids faces light up next Christmas....

smaller than i expected only because i have russell the sheep book and its a BIG one. but my little boy loved it purely because it had a sheep in it 🤣

What a gorgeous little book. I did not realize I had ordered a miniature version. but this is so sweet as a mini hard back. Illustrations are fantastic, my son loves it and I do too. It is a heart warming story of father Christmas's sleigh crashing and Christmas is canceled, but Russell saves the day :) Highly recommended.
