If you've heard Rising Son then just go ahead and trust me when I say that Takuya and the band deliver again with their mix of jazz/funk/hip hop. I love this album as much as Rising Son for all the same reasons including the beautiful and funky melodies and harmonies on the horns and keyboard/organ, the bass lines, and of course the afro beat rhythms. A real great album, and if you're like me maybe you're still playing Rising Son on repeat, and now here's a little more material to add to the playlist. Also, I just had to leave this review because I don't think it's fair that Takuya gets dinged for someone's faulty ears. There aren't any drum machines here...

This cat here is something else I particularly like his Mizell bro's w/ Donald Byrd "Think Twice "his music keeps moving. Will check out more of his recordings.

I started the journey with Takuya Kuroda with his "Bitter & High" album...it's more traditional jazz. I'm a big acoustic Jazz fan so I liked it, but I was impressed even more with the next album...Rising Sun. a more urban, jazzy sound and Zigzagger expands on that sound.I'm a stickler for sound quality and I gave this album 4 stars instead of 5 because the CD sounds somewhat boxed in on my system. Not as open or as airy as I expected, or get from other recordings, but I play this CD (in fact all of his CDs) on a regular basis because the content is that good.Kuroda is a very versatile artist, and one willing to push the boundaries a bit for the norm.I did notice the drum machine comment...I come away thinking there are real musicians throughout. Very evident on the title "Do They Know", the drum solo is awesome.

Very similar to his previous CD. Nevertheless quite enjoyable.

アルバムの中心をなすテーマ曲は秀作。音楽性も演奏力も申し分ない。ただ、アルバム全体としてどうかというと、個人の好みはあるが、長く聴いていたいとは思わない。まだ若いプレーヤーなので、実力者であり、これから円熟していくと思う。

黒田のペットは何回聞いてもいいですね～いつも車の中で聴いています。

ぜんぜん違った作品に仕上がっています。さすが黒田！！いい！！

ジャンルを越えていろんな要素が渾然一体になっていて、でもしっかりとジャズトランペッターとしての自己主張をしています。前作も良かったけど、僕はこちらの方が好きです。

期待通りの曲、聞いていて新鮮なフレーズとリズミックな楽しく聞ける曲。

最高にかっこいいです！前作も良かったですが、今回の作品の方が好みでした。現代的で強力なリズムに黒田氏のトランペット（ヴィンテージ・バック？）のダークな音色が独特の世界を作っています。躍動感が半端ないのにクール。自然に体が動いてきます。買いです。
