Better as backrest against headboard for stomach sleepers
This also doubles nicely as a "husband pillow" which is what they call that kind of "sit up" pillow that one leans against to read or watch laptop in bed. Ahhh, it is nice and firm to prop up against my bookshelf headboard and lean my back onto, feels so nice to use that way, too. So this is a "two in one" kind of pillow, since i use it to lean against to read, and also to put on top of my bed to keep my head up a bit while i am asleep. Well, i had to edit this review, as I am a stomach sleeper, and this pillow did cause me to arch my back when I sleep on my stomach and i got a backache. I can not sleep on this UNLESS i sleep on my back. It is good for resting on my back, or my side, but not for all night, as i roll onto my stomach, and get overarched backache then. I am glad i did NOT get the 12inch tall pillow that i had been looking at, because this 7 inch pillow is just perfect. !2 inch tall would have been "too much" for Me. It took me a while to position it just right, at first, i put it under my silky sheets, but, then i kept slipping downwards during the night, so i put it ON TOP OF my bedsheets after all, and i also placed it just bit lower towards the foot of bed, so that it was long enough to support my whole spine. Edit: I no longer keep it under sheets at all, I only use it now to rest against headboard to read books or look at laptop. It is perfect to place up against headboard. Part of my problem is I have a fat belly and that weight of my belly makes it harder to for me to breathe if I am lying flat, especially if i am on my back, but this pillow solves that problem.

Great for acid reflux sufferers...in fact, a must!
I used to have one of these wedge pillows when I lived overseas and had an acid reflux episode brought on by napping after lunch...my esophagus got acid burned and felt like I was being choked and found difficulty in swallowing 24/7. Well, the same thing happened again, and thank goodness I remembered how much a wedge pillow helped to keep stomach acid from reaching the esophagus. This one worked out perfect......firm enough so as to raise my upper body and head at an angle, but no so much as to feel uncomfortable, and soft enough to be quite comfortable. I slip it under my sheet, place a soft pillow on top, and it actually turned out very comfortable....sleep and rest very well with it now. Came vacuum packed well in plastic and in a solid box to protect it from damage, instructions indicated that it may take 24-48hrs to fully expand, but it did so within a few hours of leaving it out, no funky smell to complain about.... in fact, nothing to complain about as it does exactly what it's intended to do....came fast and much sooner than Amazon indicated. Very happy with my purchase and look forward to getting rid of this latest bout of esophagitis.

Using for GERD issues. Thumbs up so far!
I purchased this to help with my GERD. When I wake up in the night refluxing, it causes me to have a full on asthma attack. Which leads to getting up to do a breathing treatment. Which makes for a poor nights sleep. So. I got this. I am taking off a star for a combination of the heinous smell, and the fact that even after allowing it to rise for a day or so after taking it out of the shrink wrap, it is nowhere near 7 in. More like 5 in. At first I was seriously pissed about that, but after using it, I think that the incline is actually perfect for me. Any higher and I think it would be awkward for side sleeping. For me, it is a good combo of firm/soft, if that makes any sense at all. I was afraid I would flatten it out by laying on it, but its firm enough that it doesnt. It’s also soft and comfy. I deal with the smell by covering it with a soft and cozy small blanket, which has the added bonus of more softness. The cover it came with is kind of a joke. It’s kind of just papery and thin. I can see how other people say the zipper breaks really easily. Since I am covering it with a blanket, i dont care about the cover and am not using it. I haven’t had any problems sliding off of it during the night. I do use a pillow. I think most people probably would. So far, so good with the GERD.

Highly Recommended, but Know Your Sleeping patterns
This pillow is good quality and a nice size. There was no chemical smell for me, though I liked being able to wash the removable cover before putting it on my bed. Honestly, I gave up trying to sleep on it after a couple of nights because, as a side sleeper, it was just too uncomfortable. I would start on my back and then wake up every hour or so trying to turn onto my side. I also noticed that my back and hips were really sore from the weird positions I ended up in while trying to sleep in a position my body did not want to stay in. If you are an inveterate side sleeper with no reason to change, or an active sleeper, this likely won't work well for you. If you tend to stay in the position you go to sleep in or specifically need to sleep on your back and elevated, this is a great choice. I may yet pull it out the next time I get a bad cough or chest cold. While this wedge didn't work for me at night, it is great for reading in bed. It is nice and solid, so I get great support when I lay on it with a bed pillow at the top against the wall. I have also found that the wedge is wide enough that I can set my Kindle next to me, and it is stable enough that it won't tip over or roll off when I move. It ended up being a solid choice for me even though it didn't work for sleeping at night.

I found trying to sleep at an angle impossible. If you are a side sleeper this may not work for you either. If you sleep on your back it may work. I found changing my diet was the answer to curing acid reflux. No fat and fried food and less spicy food. More veggies and fruit, but not too much citrus.

It was the right height when I got it, but it got taller and thicker the next day, I had a terrible sleep and sore back....tried another few nights, it gave me sore back, works for back sleeper, but when I try to turn and sleep on my side, it was terrible. Tried to return it, and it turns out that I have to pay for the postage.. Where are all the reviews? Did it really have good reviews for over 2000?
