Insteon Smart In-Line On/Off Switch, In-LineLinc Relay, 2475SDB - Insteon Hub required for voice control with Alexa & Google Assistant

using with 2445-222 hub on my pool light switch box outside. I the hub is located with my network devices and it works good. Only problem I found with it is that other cables that didn't come with it may have trouble with the contacts in the back. The cable that came with it however works good. the distance between the 2475SDB is a little too long to work with the hub directly, so I purchased two 2992-222 RF extenders (hub worked with the outside 2475SDB with one extender at the other end of the house; ~75ft inside the house separated the exteneder and hub; ~35ft to switch from extender; will keep the other extender for future add ons). It works great with the extenders and the iPhone app. I am very impressed so far and will likely start experimenting with more switches and cameras to further automate my house if these items hold up over time. will try to provide updates overtime.

I purchased this to replace one of two 2475S2's hoping I could maybe stabilize a very custom lighting circuit within my home. Much to my surprise, it performs worse than the 2475S2 it replaced. I'm not sure how that can be, when this being a dual-band product should give even higher reliability than a power-line only communication device such as the 2475S2, but it doesn't. It has a 53% failure to communicate rate, vs. a 12% failure to communicate rate. These are real calculated averages I pulled based on my error logging in the reports I can get off my Universal Devices ISY-99i. Being that I had a 12% failure rate with the old, and the location these are installed in, I've had to now double my programming on's and off's with this device just to ensure that when my occupancy sensors detect presence, it'll actually turn the lights on, and off as they are supposed to. With the 2475S2, I didn't have to do this, but would encounter once in a while the lights stuck on (rare), or the lights were stuck off (the more common scenario), but was easy to deal with due to sense, which I had set-up on a manual over ride for it from a wall switch. Overall, I'm just generally not impressed, as this Insteon device has quickly become one of my worst performing out of the many I owned. I also was not pleased with the amount I was charged for shipping, then they decided to ship it via smartpost, which is the worst shipping method you can possibly opt to use. The cost was much less than what I was charged, and it took nearly 10 days to get my item. For what I paid, this could have been shipped USPS priority, and I would have been guaranteed to have it in 3 business days. -1 Star for the shipping ripoff, and -3 stars for the general failures this device has compared to the older, non-dual band 2475S2. I wish there were six stars, because I feel this is about a 2 star product, but oh well.

These probably work well, however they were too big to fit in either the ceiling electrical box or the cover plate for my hanging ceiling light. So I had to return them. Also, they would not work with Alexa without an $80 Smarthome hub. So I opted for another brand that was smaller and did not require a hub.

I bought this as a spare for the ten+ year old unit I have controlling my pond pumps. So far, I have not had any internal power supply issues that seem to plague other Insteon devices. My current unit is enclosed in an outdoor box with a transfer relay that selects between two pond pumps. It cycles between pumps twice a day, 365 days a year, and it has been doing it reliably for over ten years. I have had to replace the pumps but not this unit.

Not programmable to work from mobilinc app

I’ve been building my Insteon capabilities over the past five years and have a few of these in-line switches in use. This one in particular is linked to the Insteon motion sensor so, between dusk and dawn, when the dogs go outside, it triggers a flood light on the yard.

It's safe, functional and trusted device to control your lights. It's almost tree years using Insteon in my living room and now expanding to other rooms. It works now with my system. Apparently you have to get rid of all your older Insteon version 1 devices that are either flaky or incompatible
