Should have got this years ago.
Whenever I need to turn off the water main to work on my sprinkler system, (always at a bad time) I would struggle with plyers down in the water box. I could never get the leverage I needed and always felt like I was going to break the valve. I finally came to my senses and got this cheap tool and it's night and day. So easy to use, 0 effort, and I don't feel like I'm going to break the valve. No brainer, pick one up.

Compact but limited tool
Compact but limited tool This 16-inch water meter key is built strong enough for the job and the four-way head adds some versatility for different valve shapes. The compact size makes it easy to toss in a toolbox or truck without taking up much room. That said, at only 16 inches, the handle feels short when trying to get leverage on older, stuck, or corroded valves. For tight spaces or occasional use it works fine, but for frequent utility work or tougher valves, a longer key would make the job easier. Bottom line: A sturdy, portable water meter key, but its short length limits leverage for harder jobs.
