Good picture, good sound, easy to use, compact - all their advertising true.
Nice little machine. Has run well, good color, good sound quality (although the volume could offer a bit more)

Great Unit for the Price.
Pros: Picture: Nice quality and resolution both on device screen and via AV cable to TV. Sound: Sufficient on watching through the unit. (Note: When watching using AV cables turn sound to 20 so that output is full and enable full volume adjustment via your TV remote.) Battery: Was able to easily watch an entire movie and listen to a full CD without running out of battery. Remote Control: Lots of buttons so locating what you need may take a little extra time and getting used to but works well. (Note if you pause the DVD or CD the system may hibernate or go to screensaver so the first time you press “play” there will be a slight lag as the device wakes. Pressing play a second time will resume play.) Quality: Device and remote are on par with other similar devices. Unit is light weight and easily portable and comes with home, vehicle power and AV cables. Cons: Remote Control: Audio: When listening to DVD or CD on headphones noticed sound of the machine functioning… a slight tick-tick/whirring in the background. You can really hear it with a CD during silent periods in between songs. I would assume if you listened to an audio book you would hear as well and potentially could be disruptive to listening. Did not notice this when connected via AV cord to TV. (I did not find it to be a distraction as the music or movie did mask the sound many times and once focused on music or movie sounds it was not as prevalent. Some people may find it comes to their audible forefront and could be intolerable.) Other: No USB or SD functionality was tested for this review.

Built in Speaker is Too Low and Updated Work Around
UPDATED 8/9/2018 and Edited original review! I ordered a Bluetooth transmitter and plugged into the headphone jack on the DVD player and was able to successfully pair the DVD to a Bluetooth Speaker which allowed me to have all the volume I needed to listen to movies. After my original review DBPower Customer Service reaches out to me through email and wanted to better understand my review and what they could do to make sure I was completely satisfied with my product! Just this kind of customer service has caused me to change my rating from 3 to 4 stars! With that said, I actually downloaded an app to my phone to measure the decibel level that I was getting from the player. Understand that this was not a calibrated instrument but would give me a general idea of why I had problems hearing the DVD player. I inserted a commercially produced dvd “The Bee Movie” and took sound readings at various points in the movie. The average dB level was 67 which is around normal conversation talking. The inside of a vehicle is around 75 dB and is a good indicator why I had a problem hearing the player through the built in speaker. If you have the ability to connect the audio to your vehicles sound system either through a sound cable or Bluetooth device connected to the player then you could have significant volume for the player. I don’t care to listen to my grandson’s animated movie while traveling so I opted to plug in a set of headphones for his listening pleasure and I can listen to my George Strait CD! Portable player is ok except for one major issue. Speaker volume is not sufficient for use in a vehicle or any place with background noise. Connecting to a TV or using headphones is ok but if you plan on using the built in speaker this is not the player you want.

Excellent Customer service
Quality of item was very good- easy to set up - screen size perfect. And my 3 yr old great granddaughter couldn't “ hurt “ it once it was in it’s travel case - it hides all the buttons….she preferred to hold it rather than hang it from the back of the car seat in front of her… and she did love the experience. The company’s customer service was amazingly helpful and prompt in solving a few problems I had with it.

Amazing Customer Service after a battery issue!
I originally bought this DVD player a few years ago as a gift for my grandfather who has since passed away. When I recently got it back (from my uncle) as a keepsake to remember him by, I was disappointed to learn that the battery would not hold a charge. So, I contacted support, and they answered all my questions. But unfortunately, the DVD player was out of warranty. Instead of abandoning me in my grief, they refunded the money I'd spent on a companion DVD player (same make/model) I'd bought to go with my grandfather's. So, in effect, the new one became a replacement for the out-of-warranty one I'd purchased for him years ago. And what could've been a disappointing and frustrating experience turned into a happy memory that I'm sure would've made my grandfather smile. I will keep the one my grandfather used despite the battery issue because it was his. And I'll use the new one, which looks exactly like his, as a reminder of him and the entertainment he used to enjoy. Thank you DBPOWER for providing amazing Customer Service! So far, the replacement DVD player has fantastic battery life, a beautiful picture despite its size and technology (TFT) and the speakers that are loud enough to hear in a variety of situations. One suggestion, as noted to the DBPOWER team, would be to allow users to use the player while it's plugged in without having to see the "Low Battery" message flashing every second on the screen. This one change, in my opinion, would extend the usability of the DVD player beyond when its battery can no longer hold a charge. Aside from that one suggestion, everything has been great -- especially for the price! I bought the companion DVD player on sale and it was totally worth it. NOTE: I intend to follow their detailed instructions about battery maintenance to hopefully extend the life of the replacement unit. That includes charging once per month and unplugging it immediately when it's fully charged. My understanding is that it's a lithium polymer battery and requires a little more maintenance than the lithium-ion batteries we see most often. If you're not aware, it may throw you off. Enjoy!

Updating my review
This is what I originally wrote. I’m going to start this by stating I was never asked for a good rating by anyone for anything by purchasing this unit. I actually purchased this same DVD player in Jan 2020. It just stopped working Nov 2021. The machinery was so loud in the first player from day 1. Not the case with this one. It’s really quiet. Perhaps my first Dbpower player was defective. The sound on my first unit was not quite loud enough. I typically played it on max volume. Not this unit. The sound playing from the dvd is actually loud. I’m not listening to it turned all the way up. I cannot comment on the battery life. I have charged it completely prior to using the unit. I typically watch the DVD player plugged in. The picture is very good. The picture was very good on my first unit. While I was disappointed in the product I purchased in Jan 2020, I wasn’t happy reading reviews from people saying they were offered free stuff for a 5 star review while looking for a replacement machine. I decided to purchase from the company I had previously bought from. I am more than pleasantly surprised. Additionally, the unit I purchased has a white top and white surface where the controls and dvd door are located. Turns out this is really nice. The buttons are labeled in black. It makes reading what you are pressing so much easier than an all black unit. The remote is identical to the one I had before. There are many buttons on that remote. Batteries are included for the remote. The box that came with the unit included the wall charger, cigarette charger and rca cables to hook up to a television. The box with the unit also included what I am guessing is for hanging the player on a seat in a car. Not relevant to me but that was one of the “free” items listed in reviews of other companies for the 5 star review. While I hope this unit lasts longer than the first one I purchased, I’m already happy with a quiet machine that plays dvds well. So far, so good. But, I have had this for less than 24 hours. UPDATE: Each unit lasts approximately 7 months. I reached out to the company by email. I had purchased 3 of their units, 1 each year. They replied immediately. They asked for pictures and videos of the problem. I sent that. I was told I would be receiving a replacement unit. I was pleasantly surprised. That’s where things went downhill. I asked for a tracking number. Not getting one. I waited 60 days. I called the support number. Answered promptly. The lady was lovely. She told me I would be hearing from someone about this. Never did hear from they. They lied to me in writing and on the phone. My husband always said “business should be conducted honestly and ethically.” Would you do business with a bank that lied to you? If not, why would you give your money to a company that lies? Here are the facts as I experienced. The 3 dbpower DVD players I bought lasted approximately 7 months each. DBPower does not stand behind their product. They lied to me. I am going to assume I am not the only person they lied to. I would suggest you not waste your money on their product. I will be replacing my third DBPower unit from another company.

Volume default is too loud
I wanted to give this product 5 stars, but I have one big complaint. When you turn on this player, the volume defaults to a loud setting. Every single time I have to rush to turn it down due to sensory issues experienced by the user. It's like getting in the car on a Sunday morning after partying Saturday night with the sound blasting. Really wrecks my Zen. Otherwise, good battery life, clear picture, quiet motor, really a great little player!
