You would have to purchase a separate cover for the box spring.

Q: Will it not allowed the pee from a cat be absorbed? I’m at my wits ends I need to get a new mattress and I refuse to have it peed, thanks.

I am pretty sure that this cover won't allow pee from a cat to be absorbed since the entire mattress is enclosed. I got this for my 2 1/2 year old grandson in case of accidents in his bed, etc. Hope this helps you! Would highly recommend!!
