totally surprised by how well this hammer drill works. Cuts through 20 year old concrete with no trouble and is easy on batteries. I’ve drilled 10 5/16 holes, 3 inches deep with power to spare on a 4 amp hour battery. The weight is also lighter then other drills, a plus when drilling walls.

It's a Dewalt, of course it works great! Good price, good performance.

Used it the last few days drilling about 50, 1/2” holes by 8” depth, in concrete foundation. For me this is all I needed and it got the job done, no complaints 5-star. However, everyone needs to know that this drill is a bit on the light-weight side to drill 1/2” or larger holes. For you folks who work on a professional bases, do your self a favor and get the much heavier duty Dewalt or a Hilti hammer drill.

Using a 20 volt 6 hour battery, it cuts out under any load when you pull the trigger all the way. Other than that I like it.

Its a lightweight hammer drill. I wouldn't use it for big jobs.

I've had it for a year now, what a machine. Barley had places it would not defeat incredible piece of machinery.

Excelente máquina, con suficiente fuerza para trabajos cotidianos, muy compacto y ligero. Con el uso adecuado tendré una máquina por mucho tiempo, siempre respetando sus ciclos de trabajo. No lo he llevado al límite pero con el uso he descubierto que se proteje y se detiene. Lo he utilizado con una batería 4aH y esa me finciona perfecto, tengo mas pequeña y parece que no abastece suficiente en marchas forzadas. Esperemos que con un uso moderado siga funcionando como hasta ahora.

I remember being excited about an $1800.00 hilti cordless hammer drill 20 years ago. Could only do 30 holes 1/4” diameter and 1-1/2” deep. I have 4 Milwaukee hammer drills and 4 DCH273B dewalt hammer drills, and I thought they were good. This little DCH172B is the bomb! The best I have for overhead work, really light, doesn’t hit hard but does it vibrate. The DCH273B will shatter finger nail size concrete in your face as it drives a 1/4” bit in, but the DCH172B rarely shatters the concrete while driving in the drill bit. It’s impressive. BTW that Hilti hammer drill was total garbage, weighed a ton and was just huge.

Dwalt is in the top 3 so no doubt that it's best of the best but i wish i could try it with bigger battery because i didn't feel the power with my 2 Ah battery
