Great trap, easy to setup, just make sure to zip tie the corners tight or the critter will escape, made that mistake the first catch as I watched it escape within 2 minutes of entering the trap, the end caps are not strong enough alone to remain secure. A zip tie on each top corner though, 4 total, and we were in business, 2 good sized raccoons and 1 opossum captured and humanely relocated with ease, cleaned without trouble, just have to make sure you have enough good strong zip ties, I ended up having to keep cutting 2 on one end off to release the trash bandits so if you're using it often and go about it the way I did you'll go through some zips.

This cage has been a blessing. My family moved to a new place that has roosters crowing at 3am. After the first night or constant crowing (right outside our bedroom window), I was in the hunt to catch these roosters in a humane way. My local feral chicken program was going to cost $200+ per week to rent a cage. So that was a no-go. And the. The landscaping guy that services our area said he would pick up the chickens for free. Free food. So I pulled the trigger on getting this cage and was quite disappointed for the first 2 weeks. No chickens! I almost wanted to return it and my wife said to be patient. And after a “yes darling”, on Christmas Eve last year, bam. That solid. Of the cage closing was the greatest Christmas present ever. Since then, we’ve caught over 30 feral chickens. The peddle can be triggered pretty easily. So I tend to catch some chicks, but we let those go since we’re really after the big guys which are for eating and mitigating the noise. It also triggers large common birds, so that’s a bit of a hassle to have to let go, but that’s all because the cage works well. Also having doors on both sides is helpful to get the chicken acquainted with the cage, walking in and out to get food.

Catch reference: Using this on a stray cat that has been spraying my patio furniture. Perfect size for a cat. PRO: This product works- a cat has enough weight to trigger the pressure plate. Sturdy made and worth the money- $45 vs my local garden/hunt shop that sells for $90. CON: Major design flaw- the back/release door opens INWARD!! Not well thought out for a couple reasons. First- you do not want to put your hand IN the cage while you're trying to release the animal, and second- since the back door opens inward, it is difficult to put bait into the back of the cage. I have to thread it in through the front by either shoving my whole arm into the front or taking a long stick/tongs and pushing the food back. Same goes for food removal. When our "visitor" didn't show up, I had to have my husband shove his arm in the front with tongs to grab the leftover bait, so we wouldn't have to worry about other pests (ants), or other animals getting enticed enough to get caught. Bottom line: The only reason I rated this 4 instead of 3 is because of the price point. It is sturdy, and it works. It does have the minor inconvenience of design, but it also costs half of what my local garden and hunt supply sells them for.

Sturdy easy to assemble trap. Worked flawlessly when trapping unwanted animals on the property. Don't know how the trap would hold up in the rain or wetness (rust?)

Excellent product! I had a nightly visitor sneaking in through my dog door, and raiding my kitchen. My cameras showed an adolescent raccoon helping himself out door and just making a big mess. He was smart enough to open the dog door even when I locked it. I didn’t want to hurt him or pay a bunch to have him caught, so I bought this trap and some leather gloves. The second night I setup the trap, I caught the perpetrator. It was easy to setup and worked amazingly. It was also very easy to load the trap in my car and take him to a forested area far away from my house. Releasing the young raccoon was also incredibly easy without putting myself in danger of a bite or scratch. This product worked better than I thought it would!

Pretty dissatisfied with this trap. I am working on TNRing feral cats. I have observed several kittens/ smaller cats stand directly on the trigger plate without it releasing. I set the bar to the very edge of the latch to make it more sensitive, which worked. The major issue is security. I had a trapped cat break out of the trap back door twice. Zip tying it seemed like a reasonable solution. I went to pick up my feral cat and trap from the vet's office yesterday, only to find my feral cat in one of their traps, with a note attached to my trap. The vet said this trap is dangerous as the feral was able to break out of the front door three times, getting loose in the clinic. They said I am no longer allowed to use this trap at their facility because it lacks security. This is a major safety concern for the animal and staff. I had another feral cat escape the trap's front door previously, but thought it was a fluke. Frustrated with the design, durability, and ineffectiveness of the trap.
