If you own a in ground Chlorine pool in a hot climate as I do, this is essential. Outdoor temps in my area can get up to 124 in summer, with weeks well above 100 degrees. That means algae is quick to grow, and to avoid adding way too much chlorine, this product adds a bit of copper and other non-toxic chems which greatly help to block algae growth for about 5 to 6 months. In late April I put this in, and my chlorine can get very low with no algae growth for months. Well worth the cost, especially if you leave for a few weeks, as I often do. Been using it now for 3 years... without problems, and without algae.

I waited until the end of our Swimming Pool Season here in Michigan to review this product. I heard about Pool RX but did not believe it would work for me because it sounded too good to be true. But I bought it and decided to test it. Guess what? It worked! It worked better than anyone told me it would. I always add shock every Sunday, 2 pounds. This year I did not use shock. I always kept 3 fresh 3" chlorine tablets in my skimmer. This year I added 3 new tablets only when the other 3 were almost used up-I ended up using half the number of tablets that I usually use. I never once had to brush off the sides or the bottom of my pool to get rid of algae. Today I am thinking about officially closing the pool (water is too cold) the water is very clean and clear. I took a sample of water to my pool place just to see what the test said, and the guy told me it looks just great, especially for this time of the year. It is the best and I will certainly buy another one next season. I have an 18 x 36 deep-end inground pool - 33,000 gallons. I used the 20-30,000-gallon unit. After the initial placement in the pump basket, I put it where I add chlorine tablets in my pool and just kept it there all season. Again, one of the best products I have purchased for my pool.

I’ve been buying pool RX for years. I finally decided to write a review. At first I balked at the price but I was desperate to get rid of the yellow algae that kept coming back. This product finally solved the problem once and for all. In fact, it works so good I was able to cancel my pool service and save $225 a month! The product says to replace cartridge every 6 months. I live in the so cal desert and it gets super hot here in the summer so I replace my cartridge every 4 months. It works amazing and I have ZERO algae problems now. I will continue to buy this product to maintain my pool and keep virtually service free!

Works as advertised. I also found that if i want something faster...just buy a bag of feed grade copper sulfate, take about a cup per 10000 gallons, and fling it out of the cup spreading it in the water...then squirt about 4 ounces of 'pool clear' in right after...SPARKLING water in less than a day when you run your pump for a few hours.
