This is a stiff placemat which works well for kids. It can be bent but is not thinny. It is very durable.

Is this for the in tub mat or out of the tub mat?

No this is not a tub mat - this is a huge poster that you hang on your wall. I ordered the same thing and the poster is what I got. I wanted a table mat.

Is it slippery on the table or will it stay in one spot easily? I can just see my grandsons accidentally pushing it off with all their food on it.

I didn't buy this particular item. I purchased the periodic table for me to hang on the wall, however, if it's for a child any accident can happen because it is slippery.
