Worthy anniversary upgrade
This newly remastered 2-disc edition sounds very different from the previous 2002 remaster from EMI. Much remixing has been done with good results; in particular the rhythm section comes through with more definition. My only quibble is that the bonus CD included in this 40th anniversary package is DVD audio-only. I can't play it; I don't have the equipment. It would've been better to have DVD video in order to be able to see some vintage BJH footage. There is a nice statement on the back of the cover honoring the memory of Woolly Woolstenholme, who committed suicide in December, 2010, after a struggle with mental illness. It's a fitting memorial to the keyboards man who had so much to do with making this classic album -- as well as many other great Barclay James Harvest records. RIP, Woolly.

very nearly essential !.
read some online review lately that this album was rated to be one of the reviewers best of all time !...not sure about that one , but is worth it if you like heavy PROGRESIVE rock . the music has aged well ( 1971 ) , and not much filler . second disc included with same tracks as no.1 , but is DVD only ?.could be for 5:1 surround sound use through a home cinema set-up ? .

A Beautiful Masterpiece
What a fine album this is.From the first track right to the last. This is arguably the finest recording by BJH. The orchestral arrangements by Robert John Godfrey compliment the music of BJH so well. This 40th Anniversary Edition features the original album remastered and it sounds fantastic. There are seven bonus tracks on this cd five of which are previously unreleased. These previously unreleased tracks are: Mockingbird (May 1970 version) Galadriel (Non Orchestral version) Happy Old World (First Take) Song For Dying (Full Unedited version) Mockingbird (Extended Non Orchestral version) The second disc is DVD Audio only featuring the original album in these formats: Original stereo analogue master Surround Sound Original Quadraphonic SQ stereo remastered Again, this sounds superb. This is the ultimate version of this recording. The packaging is a jewel case and comes with a ten page booklet. The album has been dedicated to the memory of Woolly Wolstenholme - A shining presence whose music will forever live on.

Sublime !

Once Again, better than before
OK I did say that BJH have great live albums, but this studio album was my first BJH vinyl experience shortly after it was orginaly released. I have always loved this album, and even more so with bonus tracks, enhanced clarity and even choice of stereo/quad versions. A superb production. My thanks also go to an earlier reviewer who influenced my decision for this purchase.
