How does the light work? Can it be turned off completely?

The color-changing nightlight can be turned off completely. There is a small indicator light, however, that stays lit when the humidifier function is in use or if it runs out of water during use and automatically shuts off. If you're using the sound machine feature by itself, for example, there are no lights.

Is the canister dishwasher-safe?

The water tank on this unit is not dishwasher safe. The preferred cleaning method for this unit is distilled white vinegar and water.

Does it require distilled water or can I use our well water?

You can try it but it doesn’t work as well as distilled water.
