The drawing looks great even though in some parts it looks wonky
First time reading and buying a comic book. I haven't finish reading it but I am enjoying it. The drawing looks great even though in some parts it looks wonky.

Side Stories Not "A List"
I would have rated this 3 1/2 stars. Some stories especially the first and last are very good. However, those between the bookends just don't always cut it. Just mentioning Ulysses isn't a tie in to Civil War 2 in my thinking. Art work is very good and diversified by artist and which group is the subject matter.

Good main story with Nick Fury Jr.
The main serialized story featuring Nick Fury Jr. is quite good. The rest is a mixed bag that felt like Marvel comic tryouts for new writers and artists.

Confusing vignettes in the life of D-List Heroes.
I haven't been reading Marvel so much lately and I was really looking forward to the Civil War II as a story to jump back in. I expected Choosing Sides to be just that, a series of stories about how various Marvel Universe characters actually choose sides. What I got was a convoluted series of asides that seem to hodge-podge together Marvel Universe D-list and Ultimates Universe D-list celebrities into series of absolutely unengaging vignettes. So for your trade paperback money what kind of adventures do you get. Well you get black Ultimates universe Nick Fury fighting white Marvel universe Nick Fury, only to find out white Nick is a Life Model Decoy. If you are one of the maybe 10 fans of former New Warrior Night Thrasher, you get to see him fighting...someone. You get to see a bunch of construction workers vs. an angry talking steam shovel. You get to see a boxing match between Tony Stark and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (because Justin Bieber was too busy I guess). And you get to see a Jessica Jones (drawn as sloppy, overweight and unappealing as possible) look for a missing kid and not find him.It is a almost impossible to express just how big a waste of money and time this graphic novel was. Marvel executives should be ashamed at themselves for ripping off its readers with this piece of crap.

poor
The Iron man and Trudeau section just ruined this whole story. This is where marvel goes wrong in using contemporary figures who are controversial right now. Id hardly put Trudeau on the right side of things these days, more an authoritarian with Chinese tendencies

Completely disjointed
A bit like a B-sides / demos collection. No unifying narrative, just a bunch of snippets of people doing their own thing with no overall sense of direction. If that's your thing, I'd recommend the last four books of Game of Thrones.
