DentaDish - Teeth Cleaning, Slow Feeding Dog Bowl,Small

One of my dogs eats at a reasonable pace but the other one wolfs his food down like someone's going to steal it. This bowl slows down both of their eating. The one still finishes faster than the other, but not a fast as with a regular bowl. But the best part about these DentaDish bowls is that the little rubber bristles clean the front and side teeth of my dogs. Much like the rubber bristles on toothbrushes, the ones on the bowls remove plaque and food residue from their teeth. My dogs have fairly long snouts so unfortunately the bristles don't get the back teeth very well. Also, unless you have a dog with a very narrow snout, I would get the large size bowl even if your dogs isn't big and you don't feed them a lot of food. I have both sizes of the DentaDish bowl and while the small bowl isn't much shallower than the large bowl, the ring-shaped area where the food goes is noticeably narrower.

It worked wonders on getting my 4 month old golden retriever so slow down his eating habits. He would go through his food in roughly 3 minutes before I bought this bowl and now it takes at least 12-15 minutes at his fastest rate. I purchased the large bowl so he could keep using it even when he's full grown. Soft foods are not great in it but I expected that going in. Item is heavy enough he can't tip it over and he took to it right away, which surprised me since he's scared of his own shadow sometimes. Cleaning it isn't bad I soak it with some soapy water and just run my hands over all the surface where his mouth touchs, rinse, then air dry it. I wash it about once a week to week and a half. Not sure about the cleaning his teeth since he's still dropping his puppy teeth right now but the nibs inside are soft and gentle. Very satisfied with purchase would buy again in a heartbeat.

These bowls have held up better than I thought they would for the last 5 months. They help to keep tartar from building up on my dog's (both are Aussies) teeth. I still have to brush their teeth and occasionally to remove tartar build-up in areas that the rubber bristles do not reach. We don't use these bowls when we are adding liquid or pieces of meat to their food because it is too hard for them to get all of the liquid stuff and they try to chew up the bristles.

Our lab is a rapid food gulper, so I was excited to try this product, especially with the added bonus of clean teeth. That part did not disappoint as Max's teeth are very clean. Unfortunately, after less than two months we have to throw this dish away. The pictures really say it all. Food is jammed between the center post and the rubber insert and the insert with all the prongs is falling apart. The dish requires deliberate, slow effort for Max to get every piece of food, so it isn't as though he is chewing the rubber for the hell of it. I would not purchase again.

This is my first amazon review so that says something. I got the small since my dog is still small but growing. This dish is so deep that even with his skinny snout he is still unable to reach the bottom for his food. I put his food on top of of the bristles but he only seemed to push it down when he eat. Because of this it causes him frustration and sometimes he whines. Eventually he will try to bite the bowl and tip it over so the food will come out. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because maybe some dog breed out there it would work good for. I do not recommend this bowl in the slightest.

I bought two. One for a lab and the other for a pit mix. Slowed their feeding way down. I did have to watch them for the first week of use because they kept trying to eat the bowls. The lab tried to eat the center piece while the pit tried to eat the whole thing. After a week they were fine with using it. Went on a trip and used regular bowls for them to eat from and they still ate slowly. Bought a small one for an Italian greyhound. He did not eat fast; he just had bad breath. He just stared at it the first couple of times, but got the hang of it on day 3. Haven't notice a change in his breath yet, but it looks to be more effective than not having it.

The bowl itself works welll and slows down my dog's gulping their food. However, the bowl slides all over the floor and makes it difficult for the poor dog to eat. I haven't been able to find anything to put under the bowl yet strong enough to hold it.

I really like this bowl, but my dog is taking his time getting used to it. He's 24 lbs and has a short snout, so it's probably too big for him, but I use it as a challenge to keep him occupied, every so often. I pick it up and shake out a few pieces of kibble so he knows what's in there. I think bigger dogs would really enjoy the challenge. Why five stars? Because it's a great product! I can see how it would clean your dog's teeth. Nothing substitutes brushing your dog's teeth, but this is a great addition to whatever you use. I have a ridiculously hard time cleaning my dog's teeth. I wasn't trying to get a shortcut, but was hoping to augment his teeth cleaning routine with this dish.

Wir benutzen den DentaDish seit Jahren mit dem Ergebnis, dass mein 11 jähriger Rüde bis heute keine Zanhbehandlung bekommen musste, da seine Zähne blütenweiß sind. Ich kann diesen Napf nur weiterempfehlen. Leider gibt es ihn nicht mehr in Deutschland zu kaufen was wirklich schade ist.
