Q: Where is this made in?

I just received one October 2022 and they are made in Taiwan

Q: Would this be suitable for striking the back of a hatchet to split down firewood?

I suppose, but you would be better off using a splitting maul, like you knew what you were doing. Honestly, it will drive a hatchet, but when the hatchet sinks flush with the log this won’t do you any good; because it’s about 3” in diameter. In addition, if the log is open wide enough for this to fit, you will take chunks out of the cast poly material when you inevitably hit the sides, so it wouldn’t last long. Estwing makes a hatchet size splitting maul for cured firewood that’s all steel and is quite durable; it’s not for splitting big logs but it’s way better than a hatchet; or a pocket knife. Q: This can be used for leatherworking right?

I'm not sure, because the dead-blow hammer has a plastic face, whereas leather working tools are metal. I believe its designed more for not damaging wood and other softer materials.
