A Must Have!
If you have hue smart lights, this hub is a must! First up, this needs to be plugged into your router, it does not work directly over WiFi. Fortunately an ethernet cable is supplied! Easy to install and configure via the app, the instructions are straight forward. Despite having an Alexa with a built in app, the control you get with this bridge and app greatly exceeds what can be done via the Alexa App. The build quality is good, despite its small size. So can be discretely tucked away out of site. Once installed, it's great at picking up any lights (make sure they are on). The built in wizards will allow you to add groups which can then be controlled either via the app or Alexa. It just works. Great piece of kit. Just a shame more colours are not available to fit in with the decor.

Yes…..it works and easy setup to boot.
Works well even hidden in a sideboard as my wife doesn’t like ‘gadgets’ everywhere. Easy install and connection to other devices. Connected mine to an Ethernet hub/switch.

The Hue system will work without a bridge but Is needed for certain functions to work.
This new Hue Pro Bridge is best described as better late than never! Should remove the need to run multiple bridges in most homes due to far greater capacity in the number of accessories, lights, zones & scenes. This version can run off Wi-Fi but I choose not to so run from my router using the supplied black Ethernet cable. Lights can be controlled by Alexa (works fine) & most other voice control systems as well as Matter over Thread that I haven't tried. Migration didn't work for me from my v2 bridge - couldn't add the Pro model so scrapped the whole system then started from scratch (was worth it as Alexa voice control started working again). My old system wasn't sluggish so can't comment on speed but Signify (Philips) need to iron-out some stability issues. One new function that does work is MotionAware where 3 or more lights (excluding Hue Go & possibly other battery powered ones) can detect movement by changes in signal strength. It requires 3 or 4 lights is the same room or area to work & can use any existing motion sensor to set daylight sensitivity or just use the predicted daylight for your location. You do need to select which lights for movement detection so remember open doors & even windows. This new functionality does not replace motion sensors that allow finer control but does add versatility to a Hue system.
