Taiwan Milk Oolong

Bought this to try after watching videos of Jessie's Tea House drinking the tea. I followed internet directions for brewing the tea, which was 1 tsp to 185 F degree water, and I added a wash. In this brewing method, the tea was really fragrant, but only had a slightly bitter and earthy flavor. Today I decided to brew the tea on a lower temperature. I did this because the white-ish color of the tea liquid and light flavor profile indicated to me that I might have more luck getting sweet notes out of it if I lowered the water temperature. Luckily I was right. Brewing Instructions: - water boiled to 160 F - 1 tsp tea leaves to 6-8 oz water - No wash (not needed for delicate teas unless you like the flavor with a wash.) - Steep covered for 5 minutes Tea color: very light yellow, almost white Scent: strong stone fruit with dried milk notes Flavor: watery top notes, strong sweet and slight acidity mid and end notes like stone fruit, astringent dry finish This brewing method made a world's difference of flavor improvement with tons of sweetness (admittedly, not washing the leaves might have done a lot too). I like fruity tea flavors, so this is a pretty pleasant drink for me. I also like to maximize flavor and minimize bitterness and astringent end notes, so my preferred brewing method accents those qualities. I think this could also make for a really great iced tea in the summer if you steep it overnight in the fridge. Overall it's a really pleasant all day drinking tea. Like my other tea reviews, I do recommend playing with your brewing methods (particularly water temperatures) to get an optimal flavor for your palate.

My favorite Milk Oolong tea! I’ve tried many different varieties, but this one is the most authentic—simply the best! The aroma is excellent, the tea leaves unfurl beautifully and quickly, and there were practically no stems or twigs.

Y'all, I am an oolong addict! No! Not all oolong is created equal!! That stuff they sell in stores? Unless it's straight from the ship, it's most likely trimmings. This tea is a quality leaf, and becomes sweeter the second come. Smooth taste that does not fight your milk! Great with Oatmilk. Of all my Amazon purchases -- this one is my favourite luxury!!

Great but the milky flavour could be more pronounced

I was, like others, a little uncertain given the intensity of the scent and flavor, which IS, it should be noted, very good. Warm, rich, buttery, the taste reminds me of the first time someone gave me real cream in a latte after years of standard milk. The core "teaness" of the taste is there, but it's more rich. As for the adulteration claims... I am unsure. Fake milky oolong washes out the first time usually, and I made three steeps to check and the flavor profile only declined the way oolong naturally does. The stem and leaf profiles match oolong, and besides the unexpected deliciousness of the tea (note no one is saying it's 'bad', it's just stronger than they expected), I have no reason to believe that they're lying. Also note that genuine Jin Xuan WAS knowingly cultivated elsewhere, meaning its terroir is the only thing proprietary to Taiwan sourced tea. The cultivar with the milk producing flavor IS grown elsewhere such as Mainland China, Vietnam, and Thailand, so it's sourcing isn't the smoking gun others have stated. I can't make a claim regarding inauthenticity without more evidence, and recommend this if you want something delicious.

Some people like Anastasia believe this is a small package (which it is), but it's weighed out generously and vacuum sealed. That's where the positives end unfortunately. The real problem is that the tea seems to have been adulterated with non-dairy creamer, milk powder, or something of the like: the tea has an intense milky smell while dry, which it shouldn't- It smacks you in the face with how unnatural it is. I had my younger brother take a whiff and he recoiled back from it. Fingers become tacky when rolling the dry leaves in hand, which they shouldn't. Leaving my hands smelling like that same artificial milk smell, which it shouldn't have in the first place. The tea has one flavor note and that's exactly how it smells: It's kind of gross and doesn't even taste like tea. Requested a return immediately and have to take it to Whole Foods now ~_~ I feel scammed. Wish the seller would have been straight up about their product rather than having to find out like this. Twinings Earl Grey from a teabag is more tasty, nuanced, and vibrant than this in my opinion, and that's kind of sad.

The best Milky Oolong I have ever tried ❤️

One of the best milk Oolong I had so far! I tried many and this one was the best I had, the scent is milky, sweet and very fragrant as for the taste, it's sweet and delicate, beautiful color and if well infused, you can reused the leafs once to twice ! I had to command a second batch just in case Tearelae don't make it anymore. Just to give an idea, I already used half a bag and made at least 20 teas with! I highly recommend it!!!

Incredible! A new favorite. Was not expecting such a rich flavor and aroma. Delicate and pungent, creamy and floral. Managed to get 3 nice steeps from 1 teaspoon in a 1L pot. 1st steep was the best flavor but 2nd and 3rd did not disappoint. I've already placed an order for multiple more.

I was pleasantly surprised. It has a subtle, delightful aroma and flavour. To me, it feels a touch floral. It’s a little expensive, but the quality is excellent. Will purchase again.
