Quality Fire Pit Ring for our home project
This fire pit ring worked extremely well for us. We wanted to build a fire pit in the yard to create a place for us to sit and relax in the evenings.....and the cast iron and steel ones you can purchase didn't do it for us. Armed with a few pictures, including one from this very page, my daughter and I went to work. The ring itself is made of heavier gauge steel than I expected, and it was painted well with high heat paint (I know this because five fires later, no bubbling of the paint is evident. We used standard concrete landscape blocks from The Depot, arranged in a ring 60" in diameter. The first ring took 16 blocks, the next up was 15, the final ring was 14 blocks. We used construction adhesive for concrete to keep the blocks in place. While this is not strictly required, I figure that my daughter and her 20-something year old friends will be sitting on the edge of the ring, and I don't want the pieces to move. We dug down about 8" in the lawn and 6' in diameter. We then poured in the Step 1 and Step 2 base layers for the blocks, then leveled the sand. I used five bags of each layer. This is an important step.....if your ring is not level, it will annoy you for the next decade as you look at it out the window (OK, maybe that's just me :-)) We placed the blocks as shown in my pics, then we added some old landscape pavers leftover from a walkway I built a decade ago. These served as a solid base for the metal purchased ring, while still allowing for any rain water to drain through. Next, I chiseled a few of the extra blocks I had to position the ring firmly in place, centered in my ring of blocks (OK, this is to prevent my OCD from driving me crazy if the two rings are not concentric a decade from now). We then got the stone........and it was a lot more than I thought. All total, I poured in 8 bags of stone (I think they were 60 pound bags from The Depot). I also used one bag for the six inch border around the outside edge to make it easier to mow the lawn, I won't have to get right up against the wall. Lastly, we poured in four bags of red lava rock in the bottom to make the look complete. This project was done over two evenings and part of a Saturday, Wednesday and Friday night after work I dug the hole and got the underlayment in place, and Saturday morning and early afternoon we laid the blocks. By 3:00PM we had it all done. While it may seem like a small backyard project, plan ahead for getting the stone and blocks to your house. The blocks each weigh 20 pounds, each bag of stone/underlayment weigh in at 60 lbs per bag. Roughly, I lifted, handled and placed about a ton of product over the course of the project. And it all would need to be delivered to the house. I made three trips to the Depot for mine (C'mon, since when does any home improvement project take fewer than three trips to HD?). And lastly, make sure you plan on the ancillary costs that go with building a fire pit. The six Adirondack chairs for my daughter and friends, you will need to buy firewood (the neighbors will get annoyed if you start cutting down their trees), and don't forget the wine to relax by the fire with your significant other once the little ones have gone off to sleep :-) PS: While some have commented on the packaging, I had zero issues (See my pics of the packaging it came in). Perhaps Amazon and the vendor have listened to previous comments and fixed things?

Huge Solid Steel Ring, Easy to setup and use
This ring is huge! We built our firepit around this beauty. You can find some video showing how to drill holes near the top edge and build the bricks to leave an airgap around the entire ring. From the first fire we could see the warm air being drawn in to help combust the smoke for an almost smoke-free fire. This is not the advertised use but it sure works well. All hardware is included. Simply position the 4 sections and tighten the nuts. My ring rim had a little bit of a bend near some of the edges. But I just slipped it in the brick pit I built and put my cover over it. After the first fire I took my mini-sledge and levelled out the ring. I did add 1 coat of 2,000° black paint to cover the holes I drilled and the inner surface. I'd buy another one just like this if I ever moved houses.

Not bad not greatest overall pretty good for price
The ring appears very sturdy and very simple to assemble. It will do what we want. A little disappointed that there are multiple spots showing the metal and I need to go back and spray black high temp paint. Also not all pieces were the same height and some of the edges/rim we had to bend up to line the sides up more. Overall, it’s a fire ring-should do the job

LOVE this!
I wanted a fire pit because both of my sons, ages 13 and 15, will be having parties on consecutive weekends in a few weeks. I wasn't sure exactly how this worked, compared to more expensive, fancy, above ground fire pits, with lids, etc. Well, this is just fine. It isn't fancy, but you can make it nice. It comes in 4, ¼-circle pieces, that you put together using black hardware (screws, etc) that it also comes with. We dug a hole down into the ground and put this in. We then put some river rocks that we have as landscaping in the bottom and layered some extra flagstone that we had left over from when she had a patio put in, around the top. We infilled the flagstone with sand. It looks great! I covered some square cushions with cool outdoor fabric to set around it. Voila! Instant awesome fire pit! The kids will be roasting marshmallows and having fun listening to music. I bought some packets that you sprinkle on the fire to make it change colors, for added fun, too, though you are not allowed to cook food over the chemicals. I think the kids will enjoy this. I am very pleased with this affordable fire pit.

Quick to rust but looks nice
This fire ring came quickly and assembled quickly without needing to look for instructions. Two stacks of blocks reached the top of the fire pit ring. It looked nice but we decided to add a third layer. Major downfall, the fire pit ring began rusting in less than two weeks (was husband's birthday gift.) When it needs replaced, I will probably seek out a reputable company in the US.

Long lasting
I bought this in 2019 and I am still using it. It's not the best looking thing in the world but it still works. I would say I got my money's worth out of it.

Good product for the money
I received this product with a couple of holes in the box - which was noted by others. However, that’s not a surprise considering that these are very study pieces of metal being delivered in a box. This item is a very good buy for the money - sturdy, easy to assemble, and just right if you’re making a fire pit. I would recommend this product. It may be a little pricier than the others, but it is good quality.

Great during summer but as soon as the rainy season arrived rust started appearing. To be fair we are in a very rainy part of the world. The product itself is built nicely and seems great quality, But rest assured customer service is very good and will address any issues

I've had a lot of compliments on our new fire pit. I saw that some others had issues with rust so as a precaution I used a whole can of high heat spray paint after the ring was assembled for extra protection against the weather and heat. We've been using it for a couple weeks so far and other than fire ash it looks exactly the same. I would recommend this product. It was a breeze to install, makes a perfect circle, and finishes the edges off nice and tidy. Loving our new fire pit!

We used it to build our fire pit and put brick around it. It protects the brick and gives a nice, clean finished look. Love it!
