This is a splendid counted cross stitch kit. The design is beautiful and the pattern is very clear. The comments about having not enough thread seem baseless. My thought is that those folks did not separate the strands as instructed so they ended up using too much thread. There are a lot of colors and a lot to keep track of, plus it's a large size so I wouldn't recommend this for beginners. It's not really difficult, just a bigger canvas with a few different stitch types like half stitches and combined stitches. I definitely recommend this! Here's an update after completion of the project: this was a great kit. My one comment is that the quality of the thread is not as good as DMC, but for the price of the kit, that is to be expected. I compared the finished product to another kit using better thread and you can tell the difference, but if you just look at the finished product hanging on the wall in a frame it is quite beautiful. I still love it and recommend it!

This was a very enjoyable cross-stitch pattern. The threads were well-organized and didn’t get tangled in the bag I kept them in. The string didn’t get fuzzy after being pulled through the fabric, and it was cut to a workable length. There was plenty of string for mistakes or knots. The pattern was easy to follow, though slightly complex, and the backstitch lines gave the project a detailed, finished look. It took me about 3 months to complete, working roughly 10 hours a week. I appreciated that I didn’t have to stitch the outside of the picture. The only challenge was finding the right placement for the first stitch, especially with the jar shadows being stamped on the fabric. Even though my first stitch placement was off, the final project still looked great, with only a subtle difference that was noticeable only to me.

This is a great little project. I've really enjoyed watching the houses emerge. It's a fairly easy project. It's not one of those where every other stitch is a different color but has enough variation to keep me interested. A word of warning--there is a lot of backstitching and blending of threads to get the colors needed. If you hate backstitching or using one stand of this and two strands of that to get the shading, you won't like this project. Honestly though, the picture doesn't do it justice. The houses and scene are adorable. The thread comes pre-sorted which is a big time saver. And, the pattern is printed fairly large and easy to read. The details that emerge make the backstitching worth it. This is definitely a project I would recommend to my friends.

Beautiful pattern, beautiful colors. Definitely not a beginner pattern, but there was plenty of floss to complete the pattern. I would recommend getting some kind of floss organizer to assist you while you work, because even though the floss comes clearly marked by color & number of strands, once removed from the card, there is no way to reattach it and it can become confusing which color is which. Overall, I absolutely love the end result! Can't wait to get it pressed, matted and framed!

beautiful and fun to stitch. cant give it a five though as the thread is inferior to dmc, and there is no reference/numbers for replacing it. tangles, snares, and breaks too easily. otherwise the kit and instructions were easy and the pattern was great. took me about a month.

This was very fun to do! Looks just like the picture and it's a great size! Worth the money! The colors are very beautiful. It was very relaxing!

I've been doing cross stitch for years and gifted them to others when I'm done. The first counted cross stitch I did, which was very complex, took five winters, so don't give up. ;-) I finished this one for my sister in a few months for her new home. I gave her a choice of three Mason Jar patterns and she chose this one. The background is stamped, so the actual stitching goes quickly. The pattern sheet is very nice and I had floss left over. The finished product is accurate to photo. IMO, I think a "beginner" would not find this too intimidating.

Don’t start in the middle like normal. Start at the shadowing bc if you start in the middle the shadowing is off by 5 stitches one way and 10 the other way The jar doesn’t line up with the stamped shadowing It’s a fun piece
