In addition to food and drugs, the FDA also handles medical devices (which reusable pads are considered to be). But no, I seriously doubt this company is registered with FDA.

The black fuzzy rectangle goes against skin.

Are these thin like panty liners?

I think this depends on the absorbency level you buy. I bought the longest and heaviest and they are super absorbent. I also bought the smaller 12 inch ones at first not knowing they made the heavier 14 inch ones and I can feel a difference in the thickness. I think there is a panty liners option though? That should be a thinner and less absorbent option. Mine do show through my pants a bit but no more than my disposavoes did. So no big difference there.

Can these go in the dryer?

I usually hang/air dry these because I want to preserve them for as long as possible...but I have also put them in the dryer when in a hurry. I ser the heat to medium heat or air dry. They came out fine. They will probably endure high heat .
