Spectacular Hair: A Step-by-Step Guide to 46 Gorgeous Styles Paperback – May 4, 2010

This is a very high quality product which in-person is just as advertised. I was very surprised at the overall look of the book. Images are clear and step-by step is well done.

Its ok, when in dought i refer to this book to help me with braiding and cutting, I will continue to by more for my shop and for my educational pleasure

3 1/2 STARS."THE BAD": Based on the front cover, I assumed I'd found a book that featured step-by-step directions on sophisticated evening hairstyles. Sadly, this book is NOT it. The vast majority of styles in this book are obviously oriented to the 14-23 year-old crowd and very few are appropriate for evening (especially black-tie or white-tie functions). Even the styles that appear to be oriented for such use have a rather extreme and faddish twist to them. There are predominantly the following types of styles:1) krimped, crazy hair,2) hair sticking out everywhere and with a somewhat disheveled appearance,3) hair fashioned to look like hats,4) "little-girl" braids,...even a girl with a mohawk that is black and blue! I think you get the picture. To be honest, I cannot even fathom where some of these styles would be appropriate, especially considering the time and effort they take to assemble.Also, the vast majority of these styles are ones that one simply cannot do herself. The ones that DO appear to be for the more demure-minded almost exclusively require quite long hair (down the back), so those of us with hair slightly below shoulder length would not have much success even with those.Now, "THE GOOD". This book:1) does contain beautifully presented and clearly illustrated pictures,2) includes instructions are clear and concise,3) features many styles that do not require any fancy equipment or add-ons to execute,and4) contains many techniques that a moderately creative-minded person could easily adapt into more appropriate styling.For these reasons, I added an extra star.I think this could be a wonderful asset for a new stylist, and for those of us who would like to learn new techniques to manipulate our hair, I think there are benefits of owning this book. However, overall, if one is looking for a book to learn the art of creating formal styles (an inference to which the cover would clearly lead you), this is not your book. If you are looking for funky, "out-there" styles, this book will certainly facilitate that.

You gotta have the hair of Repunsal to do most the looks in this book. The styles are for more elegant eveing or outings looks compared to something you might throw up for a party. Lots of extras light hair sponges (??) and extensions are required. Also, the hands of a pro would be helpful. It is fun to expirement with the styles tho. If you are a pro, get it, lots of different ideas.

As a hairdresser I've found this book very interesting and practical. It' s a useful step by step guide for great hairstyle creations.

Just bought this book and another hairstyle book for my sister that is studying cosmetology..this step by step book teaches her how to exactly do the hairstyles and very detailed

i was looking for something wow but these books are more like photoshot artistic picture , no one will come in your chair and say they want this hairstyles unless if it's for an artistic photoshoot . I am a hairdresser and i would take this book at 20% interest .

je recommande ce livre pour des personnes qui veulent se specialiser en chignonlivre tres bien fait dommage pas de traduction en Françaison retrouve beaucoup de chignon tres actuelle et realisable sur modele

Es ist so traurig, dass man solche Bücher nicht in Deutschland produziert. Die Frisuren sind fantasievoll, wenn auch manchmal etwas zu viel des Guten, aber das kann man ja auch etwas abschwächen. Die Erklärungen sind sehr hilfreich, wenn auch teilweise nur mit den englischen Texten vollends verständlich. Aber man bekommt einen sehr guten Überblick, wie Frisuren aufgebaut werden, was man dann auch sehr gut anderweitig nutzen kann (manchmal sieht es so kompliziert aus, ist aber eigentlich ein ganz einfaches Prinzip dahinter). Ich kann die Bücher von Eric Mayost durchweg empfehlen. Er schreibt einfach und preziese, hält die Informationen übersichtlich und bringt z.B. die Fragen zur Haarpflege (nicht in diesem Buch) einfach auf den Punkt. Es muss nicht immer kompliziert sein schöne Haare zu haben, man muss nur lernen mit dem was man hat richtig umzugehen :)

This book from cover to cover provides pure brilliance in Ladies Hair Up Designs - well worth the investment, can't praise this book enough! Caters for different hair types and lengths. My friend introduced me to this book and I have never looked back. You can learn these and create your own based on these idea's.
