Worked great
The dowel jig worked great to repair a deacon bench lid panel for the mother in law. The threaded rod for adjusting the width was built with pretty tight tolerances. It turns with some effort, hopefully that was due to the 40°F temperature in my workshop, or will add to the longevity of the tool.

Works great
Used for dowels and also dominos tenons. 5/16 dominos can be used for jointing by drilling the two end holes, then moving the jig to drill 3 more holes between them. Finish with minor cleaning of the mortise.The dominos are very good for strength but will be a bit loose, so two dowels can be used in one place to help with alignment.

Difficult to calibrate, typically off centre by 1/16th” …useless projects that require accuracy
I bought this for joining cabinet doors. The holes were not centred and typically off by 1/16” resulting in manually drilling out dowel holes to be centred or adding additional spacing to one side of the piece which makes using this time consuming and useless. No instructions on calibrating the tool were provided.

Not worth the money
The one I received is not working properly. The 1/4 and 5/16 will not screw in. They will only screw in one turn then become tight and go no further. The 3/8 is fine it screw in all the way.

After the first use I was in love.
I was immediately surprised by its weight when I picked up the box after delivery. It is solid metal. The machining of the threading is very smooth and it is indeed self centering. And after my first use I will admit that my reservations before buying were quickly laid to rest. It's just a great product.
