SPT UF-304SS: 3.0 cu.ft. Upright Freezer in Stainless Steel - ENERGY STAR

I live in an apartment and freezer space is at a minimum. I wanted to stock up on some grass fed beef that my friends will soon be butchering so I read the reviews and did some research and this unit kept coming out on top. I have to say it is very quiet and I love that I can control the temp - there is a knob for that on the back of the unit near the floor. The unit arrived secure in its packing with no scratches or dents. I unpacked it and left it to sit overnight before turning it on as I had read in some of the reviews that this was what should be done before turning the unit on. I have had no problems with it at all so far. I am using it for storing some frozen items from Costco and everything is staying frozen. I like how sleek and pretty it looks in my dining room next to my bar height square table....since I don't have much room that seemed the best place to put it. It actually looks kinda like it belongs there......

I bought this as a Christmas present for my fiance because he likes to store food in the freezer, but the bottom drawers in our refrigerator were not big enough and we had to dig through the drawers to get to the stuff on the bottom. He really wanted an upright freezer so he didn't have to dig in frozen goods to find specific items.We would have liked the drawers to glide, as another review mentioned, but the functionality is what won the 5 star rating from us. We wanted a freezer that we would not have to dig through. Perfect height for next to our counter-top - and even if we wanted to, it would fit under the counter perfectly (even though the instructions mention proper ventilation for the unit to perform properly - so keep that in mind if you think about using this for a bar area). The foot pegs were easy to adjust so the unit is level (which is ideal for those of us that suffer from OCD issues).The overall appearance is great and matches our other appliances perfectly. We could not be more pleased with this unit, and the packaging was sufficient to avoid damage in shipping. No issues with dents, scratches, or damage of any kind.We are testing the unit today with a couple of containers of water, just to ensure that the unit is working properly. So far, in this morning's check of the containers, the water is one block of ice. So far, so good. I will update this review in a couple of months.

This little freezer is just what I needed to store dinners from a meal delivery service. 12 dinners takes up about half of the freezer. The unit is so quiet I thought it had shut off and was broken. When it came, UPS had left it completely upside down, but that wasn't their fault. The box had no marking saying which way was supposed to be "up". Having read the reviews, I waited a day before plugging it in to give it time for the lubricant to settle.It slides on the hardwood floor. I have to use two hands to open it. One to pull the door and one to hold the freezer from sliding. On the plus side, the baskets make it easier for me to get the items out without having to get down on the floor. I did a lot of research before purchasing, and this was the only model that had three baskets that I could find.The packaging was super protective. An inner and outer box, straps to hold everything in place. I'm glad the controls are in the back because it gives more room to store food inside. I am very happy with this purchase.

I needed just a bit more space for frozen items in a small, vertical space. I liked the design of this freezer because it has pull out shelves. The shelves work fine, but could be sturdier. They have a catch so they don't fall out when pulling them out. The temperature is colder than I thought based on reviews. I have it on number 3 in the garage and it holds between -4 and 0 degrees F. Door seals shut and you can hear the almost suction like hold on the door when closing. I have only had it for a couple months. So far, so good.

There never seemed to be quite enough freezer space in my refrigerator. I sometimes threw away food for lack of space.I did not want to buy a large freezer nor did I want to buy an extra full size refrigerator.The size of this is perfect. I like that it is upright and opens like a refrigerator rather than horizontal,opening from the top.There are 3 defined areas with baskets, which makes finding things a bit easier. I do not know if it could be used without the baskets as the coils are right there; seems like not enough protection for the coils if items were placed directly on shelves.There are no shelves on the inside of the door. That is fine with me, as it is not a large freezer and that feature would take away from shelf space in the main part of freezer.I know that noise is a concern. I don't notice it but the freezer is downstairs from my kitchen in the laundry room. I have never noticed more than a "hum" when next to it and it is running.Delivery was very fast.Two concerns prompted me to call customer support when it was delivered.One concern, it is doubled packed with alert labels on the outer box to keep it upright. However, when I opened the outer carton I realized that the inner carton was upside down. Not good.The other concern was I have heard that an appliance like this should not be plugged in right away. Unpack it, set it up but let it sit and settle for 24 hours. Nowhere in the packaging was this mentioned.I spoke to someone at customer support who was concerned that the freezer arrived upside down but assured me that if I had a problem they would take care of it. He also said he would inform the shipping department. As it turned out I have not had a problem.He also confirmed that I should not use it right away. He suggested 8 or so hours before plugging it in and starting it. Maybe this is really common knowledge and I was just unaware. If it is important, seems it should be stated in packing material for those who like me are uninformed?I do wish it was self defrost but after a thorough search I had not seen a small freezer that was, maybe technology is just not there. So far, no need to defrost it after a month of use.Overall, this is a perfect solution to the not enough freezer space in the refrigerator problem.I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this.
