Alaska Bear Natural Silk Sleep Mask, Blindfold, Super Smooth Eye Mask (Blossom Almond)

They were a gift for my sister and she loved them. She already had an Alaska Bear pair but they were several years old and she was looking to get another pair. Great gift as she was very happy to get them and loved the cute look. They appear to be good quality and she said she likes the way they feel and fit. They are soft and not too thick yet they work well to keep the light out. I think it was a good value as she was happy to get them.

I was searching for a sleeping mask with an adjustable strap as my last one didn't have one and I was fed up. It was so uncomfortable to sleep with. This one is perfect! I love the adjustable strap, and the material is so soft and comfortable. It blocks out light, it is good quality and affordable. I'm very happy with it!

This is a review for 3 different silk sleep mask products I ordered all at the same time, which I picked out based on information from both sleep mask review sites and amazon reviews. Alaska Bear Silk sleep mask Jimoo Silk sleep mask BeeVines mulberry silk sleep mask (2 pack) The design of these masks are all very, very similar. Their size, shape and strap adjustment are all nearly the same with only minor differences. As one might expect, because of this I found all of them performed basically the same. Common complaints I noticed when looking at sleep mask reviews were: - Dye from mask bleeding on pillow/face. - Strap adjustment plastic being uncomfortable as one's head laid on it. - Mask putting pressure on the eyes from being too tight. - Light bleeding in/ under mask around nose, or through the mask itself. Addressing the common complaints of this style of sleep mask mentioned above: - I have had no issues with any of the 3 products bleeding dye. I wash them in room temperature water with soap nut liquid, rinse, press (not wring!) the excess water out and hang to air dry. - The plastic strap adjuster can be a bit uncomfortable at certain angles, depending on where it is and how you tend to lay your head when sleeping. See more details under the specific product reviews. - At first I also thought this was an issue, because I hadn't loosened the adjustment strap enough. You really want to loosen it more than you think you do, it'll stay! For me I found once it no longer put any pressure across the eyes it was about right. There is a slight trade off of the mask shifting a little if you toss your head around a lot during the night but it's easy to shift back in place even if you're mostly asleep. - There is a slight bit of light bleed around the nose, most noticeable if the mask has shifted to one side or the other during sleep. It's generally not been an issue unless your sleeping under the sun/ very bright light, or the light happens to be angled low such that it's coming from your feet up towards your face. There's been no issues with light coming through any of the masks. It hasn't gotten in the way or been noticeable. There's several cute patterns/ embroidery options, but it was the most expensive of the 3. The adjustment strap size is the same for Alaska Bear and Jimoo. For my average-sized head the plastic adjustment mechanism ends up off center-middle-ish of the back of my head, making it slightly less comfortable for back-sleeping. As there's no embroidery you can reverse it and use the other side as well between washes. Of the 3 it feels the thinnest yet still has no issues blocking light. As it's thinner it drapes slightly better than the other two. The adjustment strap size is the same for Alaska Bear and Jimoo. For my average-sized head the plastic adjustment mechanism ends up off center-middle-ish of the back of my head, making it slightly less comfortable for back-sleeping. BeeVines Silk Sleep Mask, 2 Pack Mulberry Silk Eye Mask with Adjustable Strap https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LTGMVBX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1 This one was probably the cheapest per mask, yet hasn't lost out to either of the other two except in one place: color/ decoration options. It does have a smaller adjustment strap than the other two but as long as you don't have a super large head there should be no issues. I think I have a fairly average-sized american head and this fits just fine, though I have it nearly all the way loosened. As such the plastic adjustment mechanism is at the side of my head on this one and not as comfortable for side-sleeping.

I have been using this mask for about 6 months and am happy with my purchase. The backing sleep side is very soft and hasn't ever caused any discomfort and is very comfortable to wear. It does block 100% of the light without any pass through. Though if you are planning for bright Daytime use you should consider getting one with a nose fit as most and even this one with its large size always leak a little light around the nose. The strap is completely adjustable to any size and stays in place fairly well, I've only had to adjust it ever 2-3 nights. My only downside is the elastic strap has no cover, for those who have a rounded back on their skull will likely experience the strap slipping down onto the top of their ears which while not painful is uncomfortable. That is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars in my opinion.

I have tried many sleep masks. This is the first one that has a comfortable strap that isn't too loose or too tight. I love that it has no buckle or Velcro. The strap is thin but sturdy and somewhat stretchy. I have a smallish head circumference, and this fits comfortably and doesn't slip off. It blocks 100% of the light while not being bulky. The material is smooth but not slippery or clammy. I tend to move around and sleep in various positions, and this does not move around, irritate my ears, or make marks on my face. I now sleep through lights coming in the windows or lights being turned on by a nocturnal family member. The only thing that would improve this would be soft, natural material (bamboo or cotton). Another one that I recently tried (Alaska Bear Cotton Eye Mask) had that ultra soft, breathable material, but the strap was way too loose on the smallest setting.

Despite having blackout blinds during the summer the bedroom is still too light. This sleep mask really helps in that it completely blocks out the light and helps me to get a sounder nights sleep. I still wake up during the night sometimes but far less frequently than before. I worried that it might make me hot having it on but it doesn't and is extremely comfortable to wear. Would recommend.

I bought this of r my husband as he was moaning that I had a cute mask and he didn't. Well this couldn't be more perfect for him. He is a big gamer and was moaning that mine was not big enough for his head and this is adjustable! Honestly this mask could not be any better! He is very impressed with how soft and comfy it is too. I have a very happy husband on my hands, thank you.

These are great! I was suffering with my eyes coming open whilst I was asleep which resulted in very sore eyes. These are lovely and soft and you can adjust the strap so they are just help loosely over your eyes. As they are silk they are beautifully soft. They also keep out the light if I wake up early and the bedroom is too light. I've bought two more pairs!

Update to previous review: Alaska Bear got in touch following my original purchase review (below). They kindly sent out an updated version of the mask which is much improved! Specifically it he nee version has 2 straps at the back which means it is much less likely to move in the night. Also has better nose area coverage, so much much better overall performance in keeping the light out. Original review: 3 things I need from a sleep mask- comfortable to wear, doesn't indent my face come the morning and doesn't move to let light in. This mask meets the first 2 criteria well, but the last one is where it falls down. I find it moves far too much (strap is too flimsy) and thereby lets light in which is fairly crucial for a sleep mask. The search continues...
