Do you have to use one of speaker modes? Also, do any of them try to only be a flat frequency reproduction of the input signal(s)?

You do have to use one of the modes for your sound. I have that the “live” setting to be the closest reproduction signal.

Does this works with my motif xf6 6 piano ?

Honestly, I have not used a motif xf6 6 piano, but if your piano has a line out you connect it directly to the Mackie Thump12A. OR, connect the Motif to a mixer, then the mixer to the Mackie Thump 12A; this way you have a control of your tonal quality. REMEMBER, the Mackie thump 12A is Powered Speaker which means it is an amplifier and a speaker into 1 enclosure.
