What is the weight of the ball?

The weight of this SKLZ Pro Mini Swish Foam Ball is 3.3 ounces as measured on my digital scale. By comparison, the weight of the SKLZ Pro Mini Hoop Ball (which is a heavier inflated ball of roughly the same size, not a foam ball) is 5.6 ounces. So this foam ball is much lighter and will not do as much damage as it bounces off walls, lamps, and pictures in your room.

Is the foam ball better for noise? I'm in an apartment and the inflatable ball is too loud. I'm hoping this one will reduce the noise enough to play

I read the answer to this question by Pod and thought, "Yes! Exactly what I'm looking for!" But the ball ended up being just as loud as the original inflatable ball. We ended up getting an economy foam ball (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000BYMH6) and my son calls it the "Cloud Ball". He says it's fun to play with and doesn't knock over things in his room like the SKLZ balls do. And it's so much quieter than both the SKLZ foam and inflatable balls. But if you don't care about noise, this SKLZ foam ball is fine otherwise.

So I've had balls like this before but they've always shed and left flakes everywhere. Has that been a problem with this ball?

The ball sheds the outer dimple coating quickly after regular use, but once that later is gone the inner foam stands up well to strenuous use.

OK, is it 4 or 5 inches? can't be both.

Actually, under "Product Details" it says the dimensions are "Product Dimensions: 4 x 4 x 4 inches ; 3.2 ounces" which confused me as well. Apparently it's not even a BALL, it's a bloody 4x4x4 inch CUBE! (Gonna be tricky to dribble the thing!) Seems the person who "answered" this valid question isn't any better at reading specs than the manufacturer is at writing them. ;)
