Shipped on time, book was in that perfect broken in condition not too roughed up. Its great, had this book before and someone stole it, I had to replace it it's that good.

This is an excellent pictorial guide for the serious Aikidoka. The explanations and the pictures are great. Shioda Sensei explains his personal approach to Aikido, and it shows that he is a true master, I highly recommend this book.

I bought this book a long time ago not knowing if it was good or not. At the time I was not practicing Aikido,but I always wanted to learn something about it. I had a few years of experience in other martial arts. I think this is a good book. The pictures show fairly good the techniques. Some angle may be confusing if you are not a martial artist, but for the most part you can understand the purpose of each technique. A book will never replace a Sensei but is a good guide. I highly recommend it, because of the pictures display on each technique. The general information on Aikido history is pretty good too. Bare in mind like other have said that some schools of Aikido may do some things a little different, but in theory everything is the same. I also bought Shioda Sensei latest book that should tell you how much I liked this one. I now practice Aikido and appreciate better having bought the book years ago. I hope this helps.

Shioda foi um dos alunos mais dedicados e destacados do fundador Morihei Ueshiba, O Sensei. Este livro é diferente de "Aikido Shugyo Harmonia no Confronto" onde Shioda descreve em parte sua história de vida, o que explica um pouco seu estilo algo mais agressivo no Aikido e também, detalha verbalmente alguns fundamentos como, uso da energia, dos atemi, etc ... Este é um livro repleto de fotografias com sobreposição de setas de vetores de energia, detalhando as formas técnicas conforme a visão de Shioda, ou seja, na forma da escola Yoshinkan. É um livro imprescindível para os praticantes de Aikido de quaisquer escolas e deve ser consultado com muita atenção para os detalhes. Cabe ressaltar que, assim como vem ocorrendo com muitos livros de Aikido dos grandes mestres, assim como ocorreu com "Aikido Shugio" de Shioda, esse livro pode esgotar a edição atual sem qualquer previsão de nova edição. Sugiro a quem se interesse pelo livro que compre antes que se esgote e então apenas seja encontrado pelos preços abusivos praticados pelos sebos.

the first book I bought on Aikido 20 years ago! a small handy book; good for beginners on the history, background and the fundamental concepts. Useful even if you are not a student of the Yoshinkan "style" of Aikido. recommended.
