Got this for my mother's art room. It's adorable! Once I pulled it out of the box, it felt like the best of antiques already! Had that charm and precious handmade feeling. Will be a pleasure to use and grow old with.

This is a great kitchen string set & cute to boot. Someone had criticized that it wasn't gardening twine, it's not supposed to be gardening twine gardening twine sheds and you can't use it in the kitchen on food. This is the kind of string that you might use to tie the turkey feet together or a roast or what-have-you it's the kind that doesn't shed specifically for cooking.

We thought it would be bigger, as our need for twine is huge! We bundle and tie lavender, so we need strong twine - the scissors are a nice touch, but I guess we’re customers for the “industrial size” twine holder. We have loads of scissors. This is more for someone’s desk who does some packaging occasionally.

Twine can be used for all kinds of things, from cooking to decorating, and the scissor is sharp.

I wanted to like this, I really did. But it just doesn't seem all that well thought out. (I would also like to query the Amazon product page here and ask what kind of crazed psychopath ties up their chocolate cookies into bundles with string?)In the pack you get a wooden base and spindle, a ball of cotton string and a pair of scissors. All seemed nice quality and well made. The wood was lovely and finished to perfection, not a jagged corner or rough edge could be found. Despite the product page seeming to be mostly targetting gardening, it was cotton string rather than garden twine, which may or may not make a difference, depending what you're using it for. However you can easily swap the string for something else.I have two main issues for the practicality of this set. Firstly, the scissors are just a set of nail scissors. Not a huge deal on the surface, however it means two things. You have a small cutting area, which can be more difficult if you are trying to hold an item, the string and the scissors all at the same time. It also means that they have quite small finger openings, again making things more awkward and making it close to impossible if you are wearing gloves either for food prep (as mentioned in the product page) or completely impossible when wearing something thicker like gardening gloves (again gardening being the main focus of the product page)My other issue is balance. The stand is quite light weight, the spindle is also fixed, so it relies on the ball of string being able to spin freely to unwind what you need. In something like a craft environment, where you are only needing smaller lengths, or at least have both hands free to reel off lengths comfortably and at the same level as the ball, it works fine. However, as soon as you are at a different level to the ball of string or don't have both hands to guide it (think tying up plants, or tying larger packages, the holder tips over and you then not only have to hold what you are trying to tie, but you have to also rescue the holder and chase the ball of string around.The former issue could easily be solved by having snips or large handled scissors instead of nail scissors and the latter issue could have been mostly removed by having a weighted base and a spindle that turned itself.So sadly, as nice as it looks I really don't think this set is particularly good value for money, or indeed all that suitable for most of the uses they are listing.

Such a handy little item to have as I find I go through a lot of string tying bird feeders onto the tree as the string needs replaced regularly.Handy having the scissors as well and they are quite sharp.Not so sure about the price though,seems a lot just for this.

Rather disappointing for the price. The scissors are standard nail scissors, quite good quality and sharp but given the description I was expecting bigger ones. The stand is of similar scale-i.e small. The ball of string is...string, not garden twine which would have been more useful.
