Seem to be working well, no pressure drop.

No more blue crud!
For 20 years I used the kind of filters the original owners had used when we bought the house - those string-wound, 5- micron filters. I figured they were fine, our well water tasted good, no complaints except that we constantly got a build up of some kind of blueish sediment in the shower. When the store ran out of them about a year ago, I tried these. Not only a great price, but the 1-micron filtering totally eliminated the blue crud buildup in the showers. Excellent.

Functions well, but too long for standard filter housing.
It filters well, but it doesn't fit right in my whole house water filters. I have to cut about 1/8th inch off one end to make it fit.

Great filtration
We have a deep well. We have used these as a whole house filter for many years. We like the 1 micron as it keeps pretty much everything out of our water system. We change them about 1 times a month after heavy usage.

Works well with my well
I need these filters because my house has a well. It seems to do a good job. I replace it every 2 months because of the sediment that has accumulated on it. And they are very reasonably priced.

Works great for my well water
I have been using these filters for a few years now. They work great for my well water. My well has a lot of sediment that in it and these filters really improve the clarity and smell of my water. They fit my filter housing perfectly. I have to change them about once a month but all filters I have tried had to be changed that often due to the sediment in my water.

One would think that such cartridges are generally all the same. Unfortunately, in an attempt to save some money, I'm stuck with the five remaining, almost unusable. Presumably, the same goes for the carbon stage and the membrane, all bought on Amazon at a much lower price. I'm using my RO/DI filter for both my aquarium and as my drinking water, and I usually buy the replacement cartridges from an aquarium store in Montreal. I've never had any issues. Most of the time, the first stage of the filter (sediment) turns yellow-ish pretty quickly, and within two months, I have to replace it (that is when using the 1 micron; it takes even less time when I'm using the 0.5 micron cartridge, obviously). After three months of using this cartridge, it was still almost completely white. In the meantime, following regular water changes and freshwater top ups, my aquarium has become a culture of cyanobacteria and hair algae. The timing was somewhat odd, considering other circumstances (such as the bioload) made it unclear at the time if the cartridge was at fault. That still raised some serious red flags. Last week, I ordered my usual cartridges, hoping it would fix the problem. I got one for each stage (sediment and carbon; I didn't replace the DI resin), and a new membrane, as well as an in-line TDS meter. Before replacing the sediment, carbon and membrane with the new ones, I ran some tests. The water input showed around 60 ppm, while the output showed 8 ppm, which is okay, but far from ideal. I then proceeded with the replacement of all the aforementioned cartridges. The first thing I noticed was the brown slime covering the membrane, which I've only been using for only 3 months. That slime was almost as thick as the one covering my previous membrane after 2 years of use. And there goes another red flag. Considering how clean the sediment cartridge was, it was clear this stage was among the culprits; I couldn't say however if the carbon one was also responsible, as it's all black and impossible to determine its "dirtiness level." But it all certainly had a vibe of "the water is flowing freely all the way to the membrane," which is... not good. Anyway, after replacing all the cartridges, I checked the TDS meter, and guess what? Input: 60 ppm; output... 0. (Keep in mind those instruments always have some margin, so it's probably around 1 or 2 ppm, as the RO/DI filters can't filter at a 100% capacity.) Bottom line, those sediment cartridges are okay for drinking water, but if you're running an aquarium, get ready for some serious PO4 spikes. Again, the sediment is definitely one of the problems; the carbon and membrane I got on Amazon probably did most of the heavy lifting, but it's almost impossible to say. All in all, needless to say, from now on, I will be sticking to my usual provider.
