Hasn't so far, but it is machine washable. I have washed my thicker, not-for-travel mat and it cleans up nicely during a machine wash.

Q: Will I totally destroy my mat in a top loading washer? I would like to try washing gentle and with cold water.

LOL, I put two in at a time and I worry about ruining my washer! The mats get washed 1-2x per week in my top loading washer. I wash them a the regular cycle and they look just like I just bought them! Be careful unloading them - the drum moves a lot. And Angeline is correct, fold it long ways, fuzzy side out (this seems to get rid of most of the water during spin.
