Will this product allow your wife to walk the dog? Yes. I walk all varieties of dog with this slip leash. Excellent product. I am a woman and I use this slip leash to help myself and others to be able to walk a dog without having the dog pulling on the leash. Hope this helps.

Q: Is this too bulky for a 9lb dog?

Yes, my dog is 9.5 lbs and I thought it was a little to bulky for him. The leash's spring hook to attach the leash to the dog's collar is big and heavy for the size of the dog. I didn't return it since it cost almost as much to return as the leash cost. The leash itself is well made.

Q: Do you make a thinner one?

This thickness is actually very nice in the hand and works well on our medium-sized dog.
