can you paint over this product? which paint is best latex or oil based. i am looking to use this on a rusting dive stand.

I have used Por-15 on an extensive restoration of a car. It can be painted over, but you really want to make sure you get your primer on while Por-15 is still slightly tacky. this will allow the primer and then paint to stick better. it is UV sensitive and will change colors if it is exposed to the sun. On my project, I used it primarily under the car or in areas where there will be minimal or no UV exposure.

whats the difference between this and the black por 15 ? dose it stop and protect the same?

This is a top coat for por15. Por 15 offers very little uv protection so if you paint something that is going to be out in the sun you have to paint over the por 15 with a por 15 top coat.

how much would it take to cover a entire 1/2 ton truck? would a gallon do 2 coats?

I used a spray-gun to do the undercarriage on my Vanagon and I finished with 1/2 gallon left. If you brush it than one gallon is more than enough for your truck. Don't get it on your skin! Took me 2 weeks to get it off. This stuff is awesome.
