The reason I put the date in my headline is because you have to know I just got that thing If there is a mistake in this review please forgive me I am dictating it from my iPhone I have a Roku 4 and I love the remote although I think they sold us out with those weird buttons at the bottom that nobody ever uses to go directly to apps I think it’s a waste of time but that’s another story I dropped my Roku remote about a month ago and the back came off so that I constantly had to hold it together with my hand and occasionally it would fall apart and the batteries would fall out and I know I need a replacement This thing was under $10. When it arrived in the mail promptly I was very nervous because it had no paring button Long story short I turned on my Roku and used this remote which I had to put batteries into - in a minute it picked up on my Roku and works like a absolute charm. It seems to pick it up usually no matter where I am although if you’re in the direction the general direction of your Roku it’s probably better – there they are missing that bottom button underneath the directional keys so you have to get used to hitting the OK button in the middle of the directional keys which initially annoyed me and then I grew used to it within a few days Other than that and the lack of the headphone jack which I rarely used this is an absolutely fantastic replacement for the price in fact I would say for the price it’s even above and beyond doing what I thought it would do and is doing the trick until I can afford to just simply replace it with the proper remote – I highly highly highly recommend this remote control as it really does the job beautifully at least on my Roku 4. It’s smaller than the other remote and not as slick or shiny and smooth to the touch but it does the trick and whatever problem you have with that I suspect you get over in about three days once you get used to it I really am impressed with this little $10 remote control replacement I’m really shocked at how well it works

I have a newer model Roku. Specifically, a Roku 4K Ultra HD (Model No.: 4400R). The deluxe Roku multiple function (e.g., voice search, remote pairing, and head phone jack) remote Control that came with my Roku stopped working. I reviewed possible replacements on Amazon for my Roku Control. I saw Amazon's version of Roku's basic function infrared remote control device (e.g., no voice search, no remote pairing requirement, or head phone jack) and thought I'd gamble $9.98 to see if it would work with my Roku. Although, the Amazon version of the infrared Roku remote control has limited functions like Roku's infrared remote control (e.g., no voice search, no pairing button to synch with the Roku, and no head phone jack). However, I was pleasantly surprised that the Amazon version of the basic function infrared Roku remote control works flawlessly with my Roku 4. In contrast, I found that I don't necessarily have to point the Amazon remote control directly at the infrared window on my Roku and I can be across the room and the Amazon remote works very well. My best guess is that customers who claim that they have to be in close proximity of their Roku unit to get the Amazon remote to work may have weak batteries in the unit or there is an obstruction between the Amazon remote and the infrared window of their Roku unit. In summation, the Amazon Amaz247 ARC101 Standard IR Replacement Remote,basic black with Netflix, Amazon, Sling TV, and Hulu Buttons, is the best $9.98 that I've ever spent. Moreover, with my Amazon Prime Membership, I was able to purchase the Amazon version of the basic function infrared Roku remote control for less than half the price of the basic function infrared Roku remote control; including, free shipping and handling. This works great for my application! We couldn't get the Roku connected to the WiFi in my kid's dorm room, so we had to use a LAN connection. Not sure if this is a proprietary college wifi thing or not.... but for some reason this also messed up the "point anywhere" remote that comes with the Roku, and it kept losing pairing. This remote may be lighter and and a bit clicky when compared with the original remote.... but it consistently WORKS. Her dorm room is not huge so I can't vouch for how well it functions across a large room, but she points it at the Roku and it works every time.

A good replacement remote

The remote arrived promptly but would not pair to my Roku 2. I emailed Amaz247 and they were great. After attempting the troubleshooting steps they recommended, the remote still would not pair. After advising them the remote still would not pair they quickly sent a replacement. At first the replacement would not work. Trying everything I could and frustrated, I remembered I installed a micro SD card in my Roku 2. I removed the SD card, rebooted my Roku 2 and the Amaz247 remote paired and worked properly. So if at first your remote doesn't pair you may want to try removing the SD card if you have one installed.

This remote does NOT have volume button... pathetic! Who release this product!? It is absolutely useless. Returned.
