Peace of mind - the perfect lights for outside
I've had these installed in light fixtures at my front and back door for almost 4.5 years and they've been great. I just leave the light switches for those lights on and added a couple light switch cover plates inside so no one accidentally turns them off. It's great peace of mind knowing that I don't have to think about them and they just turn on when it starts getting dark and turn off in the morning when it gets light, super simple. I see many neighbors with their outside lights on all day either on purpose or by accident and I realize how convenient these are. I also like that they are 60w equivalent brightness, so not overly bright, and 2700k color temp, basically that of an incandescent bulb so they add a nice soft color outside and I'm not blasting my neighbors with super intense 5000k+ white light. These just provide reliable light coverage that I don't have to think about and I have an additional standard bright overhead light above my garage for the purpose of picking up actual motion close to the house. As far as any issues, it's been extremely minimal, so minimal that I've never once been annoyed with them and still believe they are 100% worth purchasing. I have two bulbs in operation and they've been the same two since I purchased them - about maybe 1-2 times a year at most one of them has not turned on at night. I just turn off the switch, wait a few seconds and turn it back on and it's good to go. I figure it's electronics inside, so no different than rebooting any device periodically. Only one time in the last 4+ years did one of them do the "flickering" some people mention. But same as before, just turned it off and back on and it's good to go.

Great product!
Outstanding. Better than I had hoped. Works better than a Philip's Hue.

Works flawlessly
This is the second time I have purchased this item. The first set performed perfectly, so I have replaced more of the outside lights around my house. I never have to worry about coming home to a dark house.

Sensor really senses need for light
Have tried other bulbs with dusk to dawn sensors that did not truly sense the ambient light well, and they would come on only in the dead of night, sometimes would not turn off, and never seemed consistent. I put these Philips bulbs in my porch fixtures in the front and back of my home and they are really, really good at sensing when the lights ought to come on. And they turn off consistently in the morning. The bulbs themselves are rated for 800 lumens of soft white light. Subjectively these are strong lumens, as the 8 watts they consume are roughly equivalent to the 13watt philips bulbs I used to replace 75 watt incandescent bulbs. I used one of these bulbs as the primary light in my laundry room downstairs and it does a good job. I really like these bulbs, they cost a little more than generic sensor bulbs, but they work SO much better in my experience. Light output, quality of light and the high quality sensor really make these bulbs my "Go to" bulb for places where I need light that will turn itself off at dawn. I have Philips Led bulbs throughout my home and have not yet had ANY failures for going on three years. These are my new "Go to" bulbs for when I need a light sensor bulb. HIghly recommended.

Good value and consistent dusk-to-dawn performance
I purchased 4 of the 3-packs to use in outdoor fixtures at several office buildings my company manages. (I was upgrading exterior wall sconce lights and was not satisfied with the dusk-to-dawn fixtures with integrated photo sensors, so I went with these bulbs and just keep power on constantly). The color temp and output is very satisfying and all of the bulbs except 2 have worked flawlessly now for 10 months. The 2 that failed did so at different times: one happened within 30 days of purchase and the other one approx 4 months later. The first one was replaced by Amazon (I returned a 3 pack for another... no problems). The second bulb failure became a warranty issue with Philips Lighting and it has been an unsatisfactory experience. When I emailed Philips warranty support, I described the problem and attached several photographs of the defective bulb and original Amazon receipt. A separate company replied within a few days (Philips must outsource warranty support for these bulbs). The rep asked me a number of questions such as: where was bulb installed, what kind of fixture was used, was it sealed or open to the elements, how many hours was the bulb illuminated each day, and so forth. And the rep asked me to resend the receipt and photos because they did not go through, he stated. With the value of a single bulb being less than $20, replying to those questions was going to take a significant amount of time and normally I might not bother. This is speculation, but the process seemed designed to be more of a hassle than it should be. However, I researched the average daylight hours for my region and averaged it out over the seasons. I also prepared the specs on the fixtures used (the bulbs are rated for outdoor use), office buildings, photographs requested, etc. When I replied to the rep, my email was returned undeliverable. This occurred multiple times from multiple email accounts. I eventually resubmitted my claim through the website form, twice. As of today, I have not received any response. I suppose I could try and call the number and I may do that, because now it’s a matter of principle. But the process should not be this difficult. Update: I was contacted by the manufacturer's customer support department and received a refund check on March 6, 2018.. This matter has been resolved to my satisfaction and I have revised my original rating, taking this into account.

On and Off when they're supposed to
May 8, 2022 Still working, on at dusk and off at dawn! Had a problem last year with one of the bulbs at the back patio, the photo sensor was pushed in a bit as shipped, and allowed insects to get in, thereby blocking the photosensor, so the bulb did not work. Once I cleared out the bugs with a blast of air, I taped over the photosensor with clear tape and it immediately began to work again. Great product! Original Review: These dusk-to-dawn bulbs work exactly as they're supposed to, haven't had any problems since I installed them. They fit in the light fixtures just like a regular bulb and don't stick out like they would if you used a screw in light sensor. They provide enough light to get around - I don't think they're overly bright. They provide great safety and security when coming home after dark.
