Amazing sound profile.
Pros: A great little Lav. Captures full spectrum audio at very high quality. Moved to this from the original Rode Lav Pro. Has quite a different profile. Lot more bottom end. Sounds great flat, but with a tiny bit of EQ you can really get that studio quality sound. Works fine both indoors and out. The new front capsule placement allows a lot more had movement than the 1st gen. Comes with a useful selection of bits including a pop shield and a mini dead cat; and a nice hard case. Cons: The clip isn't the most secure in the world. It's fine when it works, but it is very easy to dislodge when placing on clothing. Also I use a different deadcat to the one supplied and that can knock off the clip too when you're placing it. Once you put on a popshield or deadcat you can no longer see which side the capsule is on. If you already have the clip in place then you can tell from that, or you could put a dab of nail varnish or something maybe to indicate which side is the front? But you may find yourself pulling everything off just to check. Overall: In summary, despite its minor flaws, this is a top quality product. If you already have a Rode Pro Lav then I wouldn't bother upgrading just for the sake of it. Those sound great too. But if you are in the market for a new mic, then this is probably the one to go for.

Good but overpriced
Nice lav. Put against the Sennheiser XS the Rode is superior. Sound is fuller and less “ringy”. However not by a lot and it costs more than twice as much (£96 vis £43). As other reviewers have mentioned, the clip is poor and the cable shorter than the Sennheiser’s. Overall, nice kit but overpriced. Of course, these dynamic mikes are not in the same ballpark - in terms of sound - as condensers from DPA and others.

It is premium for sure.
I bought this mic for streaming and daily squad gaming. Once you get a low noise level soundcard with around +20dB gain, and also avoid of usb grounding noise, this mic is really good. It will beat any microphone you can get labeled consumer electronics. Also, currently I'm using wireless charging for my phone and Powerplay mouse pad with GPXS, which normally both of these producing noises to microphones. But lavalier 2 can resist from that.

Sound quality is good but the clip and windshield could be better designed
I expected a lot from this item considering the price and brand name and yes the sound quality is good but Rode boast about having redesigned the clip, well they should have left it alone as it doesn't want to stay attached the mic and is very easy to lose. Maybe it's quick release for safety and to avoid damage to the cable but there must be a better way that what I am doing using a cable tie. The biggest issue is the windshield attachment. The mic is flat and has 2 sides, one which is solid plastic (the back), the other where the sound enters. When you attach the windshield it's impossible to know which is front and back. Rode could have marked the front section so you know. So when it comes off the clip (which it will) and you have to reattach it, you don't know unless you take the windshield off which way is the front. I marked mine with some red paint. The windshield simply slides on and as a result it will simply slide off and go missing very quickly, mine last 2 sessions before I had to fit the bigger windshield supplied which is harder to lose than the foam one. All Rode needed to do is design it so gently locks into place over a tab. So some super glue to keep the shield on, some red paint to mark the front and a black cable tie to stop it falling off the clip is all that's needed to make this the mic it should always have been. I emailed Rode my concerns and got the fob off, wasn't told where I could get a new windshield from and they said the mic will work whichever way round it's fitted, yeah right. Shame as the sound quality is very good.

Although you can find cheaper options than the RODE Lavalier II, you won't find much better in terms of quality for the price. The audio is crisp and clear and the build quality is fantastic. The cable is made of Kevlar and and port feels very sturdy with an optional locking mechanism (if your microphone system supports it). The provided case is also great, with a hard protective shell and a couple of pockets for accessories. The only issue I had with this mic was getting the lavalier clip to stay on the microphone tightly, as it kept falling off. However, after messing around with it for a bit I have gotten it in the perfect position that seems to hold it in place nicely. It would be nice if there were instructions included on the best way to fit this clip to the microphone. Already thinking of picking up a second one! Would highly recommend.

I’ve been using the RØDE Lavalier II for motorcycle recording, and after upgrading from the Purple Panda mic, I can confidently say this mic is a massive improvement across the board. First, let’s talk about the sound quality. The RØDE Lavalier II offers crystal-clear audio that’s a night and day difference from the Purple Panda. The background noise reduction is top-notch, which is crucial when riding at high speeds. On my motorcycle, the wind noise was always an issue with the Purple Panda, and I’d constantly find myself having to adjust levels or try to clean up audio post-recording. With the Lavalier II, wind noise is significantly reduced, and the mic picks up my voice with much more clarity, even at highway speeds. Build quality is another standout feature. The RØDE Lavalier II feels more premium, with a sturdy cable and solid construction. It doesn’t feel flimsy like some of the cheaper alternatives. The clip is secure, and I never have to worry about it falling off or getting caught in the wind, which was a concern I had with the Purple Panda mic. The form factor is perfect for my needs. The Lavalier II is compact, lightweight, and easy to mount inside my helmet. It comes with a nice range of accessories, including a wind shield, which has proven effective in reducing wind interference. Even when I mount it externally for a more natural recording sound, the noise rejection is impressive. Durability is also a key factor. I’ve been using the Lavalier II for months now, and it’s held up well to the rigors of motorcycle riding—whether it's the vibrations or the elements. The Purple Panda, on the other hand, felt like it was going to fail after just a few uses, often cutting out or producing muffled audio. The price is a bit higher than the Purple Panda, but the performance difference is absolutely worth it. The RØDE Lavalier II delivers professional-level audio quality, and it’s reliable in all kinds of riding conditions, making it an investment that will last long-term. Overall, if you’re serious about improving your motorcycle recordings, the RØDE Lavalier II is a fantastic choice. After upgrading from the Purple Panda, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in audio clarity, noise rejection, and durability. It’s easily one of the best lav mics you can get for motorcycle vlogging or recording, and I highly recommend it.
