It worked OK when installed until we had to replace the filterthen the unit leaked from the overflow hole at the bottom of the filter holster. Thinking the replacement filter was defeectiveI ordered another box and it was the same result. I returned both filter orders to Amazon and ordered the filters direct from Instapure. The same results. I pulled up avideo from Instapure and it showed the unit with two white wasers inside the filter holster which my unit did not have. I contacted Instapure and am awaiting their response. The unit is seven months old. Didn't expect this issue.Update.....Upon receiving this review, Instapure immediately responded and sent me a replacement chasis unit. We easily installed the replacement and the filter is working fine. Instapure is a good outfit to deal with if you have a problem. Thank you Instapure

This entire unit is made of plastic, including the adapters, which deteriorated within less than 4 months. The unit then proceeded to fall off constantly, and after attempting my best to repair it, I decided to contact their online customer service for support. Their online support unit insisted on a picture displaying what the problem was, and proved unhelpful overall. What did they want to see? The instant where the unit fell off? I then contacted them by phone and was assisted by a very helpful customer service rep, who sent me a new set of adapters. Unfortunately, these new adapters were of no help either, since they too deteriorated within a few months. Overall, not a very good product, avoid it and purchase one with all metal construction.

I've used Instapure since they first came out in the 1970's, always great clean tasting water. They actually use activated carbon for filtering, the same as they did way back when. Then the local stores here didn't stock them except for a 'pure' filter which cost more for both the housing and replacement filters (which ALWAYS clog after 2-3 weeks and slow to a useless trickle).It's a relief to find these available on Amazon. They last me 3 months compared to some of the competition's 3 weeks to a month.

I have been using one of these for several decades. They used to be sold by WaterPik. This uses a replaceable activated charcoal filter which gets rid of most bad tastes such as fluoride in the water. The current models are not built as well as the older models. It uses some type of pot metal instead of the older solid plastic models. My newest one already has a small leak. Installation is easy, and only takes about five minutes. All of the required tools and fittings are included. I use this to filter the water for my Keurig coffee machine.
