KGUSS FX-Audio DAC-X6 Mini HiFi 2.0 Digital Audio Decoder DAC Input USB/Coaxial/Optical Output RCA/Headphone Amp 24Bit/96KHz DC12V(Silver)

I purchased this DAC for it's coax digital support with the intention of assembling a TV sound bar equivalent. I have a couple of audio interfaces that are USB only which could not be used for a disk player. The sources are a desktop computer running Ubuntu 22.04 and a Sony 4K blu ray player. The FX-Audio provides inputs for both. The volume control on the front does not apply to the RCA out connectors on the back and that is clearly stated in the product discription. The unit sounds great for both streaming from the computer or watching disks on the Sony player. The unit's case is of brushed aluminium and the face plate is brushed aluminium about 1/2 cm thick. It has a solid quality feel when you pick it up. This is a first rate choice from the budget DAC category.

It uses an old Cyrus logic DAC and apparently doesn't return Stella test results. However listening to it driving a 1986 Nas 3020 and some modern Tannoys it sounds superb, it's fast amazing mids and driving bass. It's on the warm side but fast and clear. Build quality is nice and sturdy, had issues trying to install the usb driver for 24bit 192khz and never ended up getting it installed. Also had issue with low sound output and had to turn the unit off and on multiple times to get proper sound. Ended up returning it. I personally don't recommend purchasing this unit

I got this DAC as a way to get rid of various noise that is very common in analog audio coming out of a desktop computer. This DAC, though moderately priced, is very well built and works perfectly with optical interface. Coupled together with Edifier R1280Ts speakers, this works like a charm. One thing that I would have wanted to see is a way to cut off RCA output to the speakers - either as a switch or tied into the headphone jack. But if your speakers have their own mute, then this is not a problem. The USB interface seems to work well too, although I'm not using it so I can't say for certain.

Really happy with this DAC. Using it with my computer and some Sennheiser HD 599 SE headphones. Sounds great, feels solid, and meets my needs perfectly.
