Barron's AP English Language and Composition

If you want to learn how to write better essays, this book might prove to be of service to you. But if you’re trying to improve your scores on the multiple choice portion, then don’t.This prep book features confusing questions and the most vague and obscure answer explanation I have seen. Most explanations are only one or two sentences, and in multiple occasions, and left me with more questions than answers.Now, it’s fair to take my comment with a grain of salt. That being said, please also understand that my frustration with this prep book can easily become yours.

I'm an AP Student preparing for this year's AP exam. This book wasn't that helpful in reviewing the content for the exam. The passages and the questions didn't accurately mimic the style of questions on the exam and the explanations for writing the essays weren't very thorough or straightforward.

The practice questions are way harder than the AP exam. They did not prepare me for the exam and only stressed me out. I recommend using college board provided practice AP Stats tests from past years instead of this book.The explanations for concepts were impossible to understand and over complicated. Stats medic provides better explanations.

Do not buy any book from Barron’s!! Customer Service is AWFUL! My daughter encountered a problem trying to access the online tests associated with the book. Barron’s acknowledged a typo in the book. However, the link they provided didn’t work. The next time they responded, the password they provided did not work. The following time, the provided a link for AP US History.... (when the book and issue is AP English.....). Each time, we must email and wait between 2 and 14 days to get a reply...Always from a different person who has no history of the issue... we have to start explaining again. We have been trying to get this sorted out since November 23 with no end insight. Should be easily resolved, but seems sloppy mistakes and half-baked efforts.

Helpful review. I like the additionally practice tests. Other than that, it is review. Nothing new but that's fine with me.

The book is fine I just hate the class.

My son used this book to study for the AP exam. I watched her study every night but she still got a 1! How could this be? Don't waste your money on this and look for Princeton Review for your next purchase.

Required text but helpful

Must have English book for grammar and vocabulary insights. Really helpful in learning new words in English.
