The lamp arrived very well packed. The whole lamp is encased in moulded polystyrene in its own box and then inside a bigger Amazon box. The original box looks very small but the lamp base is cleverly packed inside the shade. It’s very easy to assemble although if you have large hands the bulb might be a bit fiddly. I bought the recommended bulbs at the same time. It would have been nice to have a bulb included but as the price of the lamp was very reasonable I don’t mind. The good points are - 1. The lamp is well made and looks more expensive than it is. 2. The 3 levels of light are perfect. The lowest is a perfect night light. The next is easily bright enough to read by. The brightest is still not hard on the eyes, even with a glass shade. 3. As it is a touch lamp there is no cord trailing over the bedside cabinet where a lot of lamps have an inline switch. There is also no struggling to reach a switch often located at the base of the bulb. I bought it as I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands are basically useless at night. The lightest touch is all that is required. 4. I think the lamp is a nice size. The shade in particular is slim whereas on a lot of lamps the shade can get in the way on a bedside cabinet, particularly if you have limited space which is often the case. I have taken a photo with a phone to show the scale. 5. The clear shade is so much better than a lot of the fabric covered ones which seem to be on the bulk of bedside lights. It doesn’t dull the light so you don’t need a high wattage bulb. You don’t need to colour match it other than choosing the base. The few negative points are - 1. The touch base is very sensitive. If you are heavy handed the light will just turn on then immediately off but it is not a real problem. 2. The cord could have been a bit longer. Fortunately my sockets are exactly in the middle of my double bed. Even though my bedside cabinets are quite tall the lamp is still at least 18 inches from the edge of the cabinet. 3. The shade is fine glass which looks so much better than plastic but makes it unsuitable for a child’s room. If you knocked or dropped the lamp it would certainly break. The negative points are very very minor and no problem. The lamp looks more expensive than it is. It’s a perfect size and doesn’t crowd the bedside cabinet. It’s so easy to operate and it’s nice to have 3 light levels. It is also a nice bright light which many of todays lamps are not. I would certainly recommend it and am planning on buying a second one.

Lovely to look at and nice and easy to switch on and off perfect for my 93 year old mum.

Delightful - looks very pretty and vintage. Very easy to turn on and off in the middle of the night. Difficult to pick up for dusting my bedside table, however, as touch activation is very sensitive - you cannot pick it up using the base; the touch activation is good during the night but not for housekeeping.

The Shades,in fact the whole lamp is nice its sturdy but light looks good definetly warrants 5 stars.

Beautiful lamp .. base not heavy but looks the part.. I have it in on my hall table and use the lowest setting in the evening .. I have bought another one for my sister.. she loved it and is going to put it on her bed side table. She is elderly and this lamp will be SO easy for her to use!

A lovely lamp and really handy at night. But the significant fault is the fragile glass shade. I was always careful, but after 2 years, it broke. Don't buy it if you have children around the house.
