FLA Medical Soft Form Hernia Belt (Large, Beige)

I bought this for my father and he thought it worked pretty well. His size was right on the cusp between two sizes; the smallest size given within the large range so I got the large, but it was really too large. Perhaps this runs large, or perhaps they really need more in-between sizes. This is not the very best of the trusses as far as pad placement either. The pads could be a very little bit more toward the sides, but that might be an artifact of the size. I would suggest that if you are on the small end of the large consider buying the medium and so on, but can't guarantee the relationship holds true for the smaller sizes. I still liked the product since the increase in comfort it afforded was appreciable enough to result in it being worn every day - which speaks for itself.

After having the unfortunate incident of getting a rare hernia--rare for a woman, I had to get something for support until surgery.So, after reading the reviews, I figured it would hold the hernia in, even though I didn't have the equipment for the support straps.Well, after receiving this belt, I tried it on and decided those support straps would have to go, as it wasn't needed. Anyway, evenwithout the support straps and for the price, it didn't do any more than a wide velcro belt would. Actually, my velcro and cotton belt,which can also carry a hot/cold pack, worked just as well. Well, maybe for a guy, it would work wonders, but for a woman...save yourselfthe money and buy either a wide velcro belt or a short-style spandex brief.

This Soft Form Hernia Belt has worked very well for me, but I have a suggestion for its use which may be helpful to others who have it.I found that when wearing it with standard "brief" syle underwear, with the belt adjusted to provide adequate pressure on the hernia, the genital area was uncomfortably compressed and the straps were rubbing on the inside of my legs.By changing to Jockey Brand Boxer/Brief style both of those problems were eliminated. The slightly longer legs on the Boxer/Brief places underwear material between my legs and the belt straps, and provides a looser pouch for genital comfort.I like this Soft Form Belt well enough to order another one if I find I need to wear it more often and/or for longer periods.Update: I no longer use this belt after having had a very successful surgical repair using the DaVinci Robotic Assist procedure. These belts served me very well when I needed them.

I recommend this for anybody that has a hernia for men my husband buys this every month it helps him carries a little bit of heavy stuff he's been wearing this for for like 5 years and I've been buying these for him ......

Excellent product. It worked perfectly on my left inguinal hernia for the two weeks before laparoscopic repair.

The straps that go from the front to the back, need to have their materials reversed. The stretchy elastic part that runs between the groin area and the thigh, feels like you have been wearing a sandpaper strap after just a few hours of wearing. It would be better if they used a soft cotton type of material for this part of the straps. And then use the rough, elastic part of the straps for the part that you pull to adjust them. Also, the front area that is supposed to protect your skin from the waist band strap. Is far to small, it rides up and the elastic waist strap then rubs your skin raw. I don't know how they test their designs, but they cannot be using an actual hernia sufferer, who has to wear this thing all day long. I will never buy this product again.

The belt felt great prior to surgery as it prevented anymore unwanted "bulging". Following sugery I put the belt back on and was absolutely miserable until I took out the pads that applied the pressure before sugery. If there had been some instructions on how to wear the belt after surgery I would have given it a five star rating.
