Helinox Chair Zero Ultralight Compact Camping Chair

We've used our two chairs for years now; they are compact and travel well in a smallish bag. We typically go on hikes or long walks with our older dog, and when we want to rest, it's no big deal to set them up and sit. We tend to stick our feet out forward to balance but have never toppled over.

This chair is great. Easy to assemble and feels great to sit in. Folds up nicely and does not take up a lot of space when broken down to pack out. What has impressed me the most is the strength of the chair. Feels incredibly stable and strong when sitting in it. Have no doubt for its size that it hold up the test of time. I will get another in the future.

I’m honestly surprised that I bought this chair as expensive as it is. But I fell victim to the ultralight sickness. I don’t really regret it. It’s so impressive to put this chair together and feel how light it really is. Even more impressive is that it is functional and strong. Obviously, this chair doesn’t have the height or stability of other heavier or more traditional camp chairs. But boy is it cool.

I cannot say enough about how much I love my chair zero. I have downsized and paid high prices for other new ultralight gear just so I can get a pound off my baseweight so I can carry this chair...lol....I have some musculoskeletal issues, and due to that have a lot of difficulty getting off the ground if I cannot find a tree stump or rock to sit on. So...this chair has saved the day. I literally would not be able to hike without it due to these health issues. Very quick to set up and take down. I will say I learned pretty fast the ground sheet is an essential item depending on the type of surface you are camping on. The feet sink into sandy ground or certain other type of ground surfaces. And the groundsheet prevents that. The ground sheet is heavy though....really think they need to work on lightening that up. My only issue with the chair is I wish it was just an inch or two higher off the ground, that would make it perfect. I have another of the helinox chairs, which is about double the weight of this one. Seems like they could make this one just a tad bit taller without adding too much weight, I for one would be willing to give it a try! So....my order would be for a chair just a couple of inches higher off the ground, and a much much lighter ground sheet.

Having just used this chair on a recent three-day 20 mile hike in upstate PA, I can say that it is a fantastic piece of lightweight gear to have in your backpacking kit. It breaks down very small, takes up little space in your pack, is remarkably light for its size and utility and is recommended. However, the reason why I only gave 4 stars is for two small issues that I experienced: 1. The back-rest of the chair could be higher. Frequently, I found myself wanting the back of the chair to be higher to support my upper-back / neck. This may not be feasible at the weight to size ratio, but I just wanted to put it out there... 2. The feet on the chair could be wider. Frequently, when sitting on soft ground, the back legs would routinely sink into the ground, necessitating the purchase of an attachable pad. This could easily be avoided by simply adding baskets to the legs to distribute the force instead of directing 100% of the force into the ground. Overall a fantastic buy that I would buy again.

Love this chair for backpacking, it weights nearly nothing and impresses people all the time, I will say it’s not the most comfortable backpacking chair I’ve been in but for the weight and size it’s totally worth it. It’s also very strong, I weight 225 and it holds up just fine.

I lead my boys' scouting group and we do a lot of backpacking camping. I used to take a Thermarest pad and sit on a rock, but still that was tough on my old knees. This is a dream come true! A super lightweight chair (without the stuff bag, it weighs a pound and fits perfectly in the side pocket of my backpack. A little tricky to set up the first few times. Did not want to force the poles in the pockets for fear of ripping the pockets. Nice there are only 2 pieces though - the poles, which fold up, and the chair seat/back. Nothing to get lost! Not the most comfortable chair to sit in, but better than sitting on the ground. To ensure balance, it is best to stretch out the legs as opposed to keeping them close to the chair. The back is shorter than I would like for normal use, as I would love to rest my shoulders back after a day of backpacking. Regardless of these two design aspects, I love sitting in this chair vs. on the ground. I feel comfortable in the chair from the perspective of holding my weight (5'7" & 170 lbs). I can sit by a fire in this chair for hours and feel comfortable. For cold weather, I purchased REI's Flexlite Chair Underquit which fits the Chair Zero perfectly! The extra insulation is easy to put on and makes a big difference in freezing temps. It is also a lightweight quilt so does not increase the packweight. Overall, glad I have this in my kit to make backpacking more comfortable. Recommend!

Pricy but worth it. Not putting 5 stars due to the price. It's comfy, lightweight, easy to carry, quick to build and pack. I love it.

Looking for a "camping" chair, but travelling by bicycle, so needs to be light and compact, I was absolutely blown away by this product. having tried a couple, some returned before even opening, due to size and weight, this product is absolutely everything it says on the tin. Literally the size of a 1.5ltr Coke Bottle, but weighing less, this product is absolutely essential for anyone wanting a lightweight chair. Easy to assemble, with shock chorded legs and struts, and an easy to fit fabric seating, this really is a 10/10 product. I could not be happier

Best light weight camp chair. If you backpack and are our 55 yrs.dont hesitate. Not your recliner but not your livingroom either don't buy footprint unless you are to use in sand
