I have never spit on my carpet and gagged so violently a day in my life. Been biting my nails and fingers since I had teeth. Gagged again at work in the morning. In hindsight, I went to absentmindedly gnaw my nails at lunch... my hand got about halfway to my mouth when the mental alarms went off lmao looked at my fingers, frowned, and grabbed my fidget cube instead. 2 days down, wish me luck!

I always forget to leave reviews, but I must for this. I thought my 6 year old was never going to stop sucking her thumb. You would see it in her sonogram pics, and nothing seemed to deter it (not even peer pressure). This product has completely stopped it, and she doesn’t fight me putting it on her nail. I’m so thankful! Try this if you feel like your child will never stop sucking their thumb!

Overall, this is a good product, but having used more traditional nail-polish-type deterrants in the past, I found this to be less effective. I'm giving it four stars due to the application being very convenient and different, but the result was that I ended up biting my nails again more often, as I will explain.I am a lifelong heavy nail biter, and despite using deterrants for 2 years and trying very hard to curb the habit, it's still a challenge. For the last 2 years I used Mavala stop nail polish, which has an intensely bitter taste and is basically a clear bottle of nail polish with bitter chemical added. As long as I keep this nail polish on, I can't bite my nails. Although the polish is water resistant, it wears off in about 2-3 days and by the end of the second day, I may find myself putting my fingers in my mouth some and attempting to bite my nails despite remnants of the bitter polish still being there. This is where these deterrants all hit a snag for me. If I'm not diligent about keeping it on my nails, I go back to biting.Which brings me to the Nail Quail. I bought it to try something different. This product has a similar strong bitter taste, and the applicator is so much more convenient than the nail polish bottle. Initially I was extremely happy with the product because of how much more quickly I could apply it to my nails, and it dries fast too as it is water-based. However, also because it is water-based, I found that within a single day it has already washed almost completely off of my hands (I wash my hands regularly throughout the day, especially when I'm working). To use this effectively, I need to reapply it multiple times each day, instead of ~3 times each week. That doesn't mean it's totally ineffective, but for my case it isn't perfect either.The shape of the product is like a marker, and I think it's meant to be slipped into a pocket or purse to carry around and reapply when out and about. I haven't done this, but I suppose I'll need to start.If I could get a formula of this that was more water resistant with the same applicator tip, I think it would be just about perfect.

If you have kids or a certain family member who can't seem to keep their hands out of their mouth you should definitely buy this. My 5-year-old has a habit of biting her nails and getting infections on the side of her cuticles. The same day I put this on she cried and begged me not to put it back on her fingers because the taste was just disgusting. Of course I continued to put it on until she is no longer biting her nails. My only complaint is it is super strong so when she was eating her chicken nuggets and accidentally put one of her fingers near her mouth she was complaining that it tastes gross and she couldn't enjoy her meal. Of course as a parent you need to know what you're feeding your child so I took a taste of the application to see what the big deal was and oh my gosh it definitely tastes horrible and storms your whole mouth. I now feel guilty for putting it on her fingers but at the same time this will keep the germs away and no more nail biting.

My 2 year old somehow sucked through this product. I'm not sure if it's because she's an odd one, or if the product doesn't work. It definitely is easy to apply and dries quickly. We found greater success with a plastic thumb cover kept on with a bracelet type thing. But this type of thing seems unique to each individual, so can't give it 1 star.

I tasted this once and have been vigilant about putting my fingers near my mouth ever since. The taste is horrendous. A little piece of advice: don't apply it within an hour of a meal or it'll ruin your food. So excited to say goodbye to a 40 year habit

Great product, the only product that was able to stop my daughter from sucking her thumb! And it took only like 3 days!

First off, I will say that anyone who has fallen victim to the taste of this, I am sorry and I feel your pain. It will make even the strongest nail biters go running in the opposite direction. I am using this product to help with my habit of biting my cuticles and the skin around my nails and this has helped immensely. The anti-inflammatory ingredients help to soothe the sore spots and also make my nails look better! It provides some moisture as well, which dry skin is the biggest trigger for me to start picking, especially in the winter.It's compact size makes it easy to have with you anywhere. I am considering buying a few extra to have in my purse, backpack, car, you name it. No progress pictures as of yet, but I will try to remember to upload when I have been using it for a bit longer. It certainly does the job.
