Adapts 5/16 Mini Split A/C Unit to 1/4 Vacuum Line
This adapter will allow the use of an automotive grade vacuum pump on an R410A mini split air conditioner, which is what most of the modern mini splits use.Like all Yellow Jacket products, this is a well constructed tool, works as intended, and should last a long time. Feels solid and would probably be fine for professional use. Both connections thread on for a secure connection. There is a core depressor in the 5/16" side which connects to your mini split, and a Schrader core in the 1/4" side which connects to your vacuum line or core valve tool.

You may not need it for your R410a project
I just bought a manifold, a tank of R410a, and 2p of this adapters, all from Amazon, planning to refill my leaking Carrier 2.5t unit. But, I have to return those 2 adapters because I found that my unit's service valves and R410a tank are all 1/4" without need of this adapter. So, please don't be misled by some reviews and Q&A. Most of the R410a AC units are designed with 1/4" valves as well as the R410a freon tanks, I guess. By the way, the adapter looked a good quality part.

Lots if useless reviews and info here.
This adapter from YellowJacket is a must have for mini-split work. It works better than any other brand I have used. There is alot of nonsense in some of the reviews. 1. This has nothing to do with being able to use an automotive vacuum pump, nor any bearing on your guage set. Most of you will know this, but thought to throw it out there as some of the reviewing folks above probably have a service call to a pro in their future. The bend is nice as most mini-splits have the service port near the bottom and it is hard to get straight tools on. The cheap adapters leak, and the SupCo is hard to get on without loosing some gas. The large knurled surface on this one helps. I hook this up, then use an Appion tee for my probe, at that point can charge with a hose to my tank. I use my probes on mini splits to charge as you can monitor output air temp vs, suction line temp and vapor saturation. There is no conventional hi side, so it just takes some getting used to what you should see. The flare fittings on splits are the Achilles heel and you have to get them right or you will always be adding gas. The factory will always tell you to weight in at every service, but in the real world this is not possible. Use your PT chart and keep it from freezing, I have found 125PSIg to be right for me in the Texas heat, YMMV. Yellow Jacket professional quality, it just took forever to get here. Sorry for the long rant.
