Helpful learning aid
Not sure why so many people are bashing this. Yes we all know that you should use your ears to determine if you're hitting the right note or not - for me specifically who is playing along with tracks by ear it's nice to have a visual representation on the fingerboard where I should be rather than me been just off the mark as to where I should be playing (coming from bass guitar with frets). After applying this - it's also helped me run through my scales knowing where the notes are specifically so I can incorporate sound and finger position to cement muscle memory (or finger equiv) rather than trial and error. Some people might find it useful, others might not - all depends on your learning style but: - It was easy to apply - Stuck down well - Hasn't impacted my playing (no buzz or anything when playing notes) - The placement on a 4/4 electric cello matches the notes so it is accurate (played with an electric d'addario tuner so can confirm that notes played on indicated positions are the right notes. Worked for me

Do not buy!! It is very inaccurate. Un usable.

It is so inaccurate as to be useless.
I purchased this 'Fantastic Finger Guide for Cellos' understanding from the product description that it would function as a beginners guide as to where to stop the notes on the fingerboard of a 4/4 size cello. My cello conforms to the 4/4 specification of measuring string length nut to bridge of 695mm. Playing up the notes on any string using the 'Fantastic Finger Guide for Cellos', the notes become increasingly hopelessly sharp. On the C string for instance, when the string is stopped at the G position, the note produced is about 1/4 tone above G. Thus, it is so inaccurate as to be useless for its avowed purpose.

Returned
Had to return as 3/4 cello I bought from Amazon was worse than a toy!

Just why? Not at all a benefit to students, it’s a hindrance.
I’m not really sure why this is needed. All string players have to learn to tune by ear — that’s the whole point of playing without frets: learning to play in tune. Did students back in the day need things like this? No, they had aural training. I’m pretty sure David Popper didn’t have stickers on his cello! Plus, constantly turning the head to look at the left hand actually hinders playing. Good technique relies on developing a sense of touch and sound, not visual cues.

L’idea é bella ma purtroppo i segni sulla guida non sono perfetti. Mano a mano che si scende se ti attieni a quei segni sei molto crescente. Ho dovuto mettere degli altri adesivi sovrapposti per correggere la distanza. SCONSIGLIATO

This finger guide is wonderful for the new cellist as you work on learning the proper finger positions. I have played fretted instruments and not having frets on the cello was a bit daunting but this guide steps in and makes placement readily apparent until you learn some muscle memory. There is a video on youtube to show you how to properly install this guide. It's important to thoroughly wipe off the cello neck to remove any rosin residue that may keep the guide from sticking. I had a small issue when I initially received it from Amazon and this company was exceptionally responsive to my messages and the issue was taken care of quickly and easily. I would buy from this company again without hesitation!

I was very happy with this product. I also ordered and received the fingerboard tape for my violin - a smaller version of this same product. What's awesome about this product is that the tape includes positions for both sharps and flats and half steps. It also identifies placement for First, Second and Third Position. I had to be careful putting on the tape and if you scan the QR code - the seller has made a short instructional video which shows you exactly how to do this. I was super impressed with both the product and the fact that the seller explained how to install the tape and gave warnings about not letting the tape set on the instrument longer than 15 mins before final placement. Great little product and cheaper than it's immediate competition. Have used ones from other sellers on Amazon which weren't as good as this one. Very impressed.
