While it's kind of expensive on it's own, this thing does fit perfectly over the mic and does what it needs to. Don't expect a whole story or anything, it's literally just a foam mic cover.

My wife reads and records for the blind so she appreciates the excellent quality and ease of usage. You just plug it in, go to settings and select external mic and you are good to go.
