Compact switch dock for travel
This is much smaller than the standard Nintendo switch dock. It still needs the HDMI cord and power adapter that plug into the dock to connect to the TV and get power. I looked at compact dock shells but they required taking a real dock apart and reusing the circuit board and USB connector. This was much simpler because its plug and play and I think may even be more compact. I read that the switch requires specific power ratings to work with the TV so I only tried this adapter with the original Nintendo power brick. I suspect some of the "didn't work" reviews weren't using a power adapter or had one that wasn't the rating the switch needs. It worked great with the original cords for me. I had to lay the switch down flat but since my main concern was saving space when packing for travel rather than looks it's an easy trade off to make. I didn't try with my laptop but I saw in the instruction sheet that this should work with more than just a switch.

Does not work for switch lites
I'm mainly saying this because I ordered without researching first. The switch lite itself does not have docking capabilities. The people at nintendo took out the part that makes the video show up on tv/monitor. It's not the adapter it's the switch lite.Other than that it works great I tried it on my dad's og switch and it works perfectly!

Works for connecting Switch (and Steam Deck while charging) to Nreal Air
I bought this because I wanted to be able to connect my Switch to my Nreal Air glasses on the go (without having to disconnect the dock from my TV and take it with me). So I bought this, a 6 inch HDMI cable to hook to the NReal HDMI adapter, and an extra Switch power supply. It works as intended. I can use my Switch with my AR glasses should I find an exclusive title that doesn't play better on the Steam Deck. Those Split Pad Pros are useless in docked mode though. Fortunately I have a second Switch Pro controller I wasn't using, but that kills any plans to add a battery pack to this setup. It's too awkward to be walking around with.I was also thinking this should work great for the Steam Deck, and enable me to charge it (and maybe a PS5 Dual Sense controller -- gotta LOVE Chiaki, especially if you have fiber) while using it with the NReal Air glasses. It works perfectly for that as well. Granted, I'm depleting one battery to charge another. However, the Steam Deck charges faster than the NReal HDMI adapter can deplete, and the adapter likewise charges quickly when connected to the Steam Deck's power supply. Considering the cheapest hub with DP passthrough on it's USB-C ports is around $100, I arguably saved a good $86 doing this dance instead (then again, some games and emulators can deplete the Deck's battery quickly, so I may get that fancy hub yet). Now, I could actually walk around with this setup using a battery pack.At this price, I was also surprised that the case is metal. I would have expected cheap plastic. This seems to be very well made.As stated many times in the description though, you must use an appropriate power source. Don't just plug some random power supply in and expect it to work. That should be basic common sense, but after reading some of the other reviews, apparently it's not. If your device came with a USB-C power supply, you need to use it, order one just like it, or otherwise match it's output. The very reason USB-C can replace conventional power ports is because it can handle higher voltages than USB-A. So you should never assume that an A to C cable will provide sufficient voltage. Any random USB power supply or battery pack might be able to CHARGE your Switch, but if you want it to run in docked mode, you need something that can output 15V at 2.6A (or more). The Steam Deck's power supply fully qualifies, but some random phone charger probably won't even come close. The best thing to do is just order another Switch power supply if you want to leave the original one connected to the original dock. It's a good thing USB-C has safety features. All of this random power supply testing could be releasing a lot of smoke.

Just works!
This works wonderfully to connect my Switch to my TV via HDMI. At this price, this is an amazing replacement for the grossly overpriced Switch Dock and is much more portable. I wish I had known about this much earlier!

Very helpful
I was looking for a way to make the switch more versatile and easy to switch from tv to tv. This works great and is easy to move from one tv to the other.
