Honestly, I purchased this because my usual brand of hot pot base was unavailable, but I’m really happy that I did. This is delicious! I love the amount of spice that this has and a nice bold flavor!

Good stuff. But man only use one. I did two in a big pot because I couldn’t taste the heat at first BIIIIIGGG mistake lol. Otherwise very good. Good heat, good flavor

Only use half!! Goes a long way

I lived in Chengdu for two years and met my now-husband there when he was an expat. We LOVED hotpot and had it all over Sichuan. This is delicious, but it is definitely spicier than anything I ever had in China. I used two packs of vegetable broth and it was still so overwhelmingly spicy I could only eat half of the veggies I cooked. My husband powered through, but he felt the same way I did. It ended up not being enjoyable after a few bites. I think I would quarter the block or use a lot more broth next time to get the spice level to what I was used to. We added Asian cabbage, tofu skin, lotus root, potato, broccoli, cauliflower, bamboo shoots, rice dumplings, and mushrooms. The first few bites were like being back at my favorite restaurant outside the school I taught at, but then it became unbearable. Either my taste buds have changed, or this is just outrageously spicy. Either way, I’ll get it and make it again, I will just be using less per pot!

These are REALLY good. I haven’t had hotpot in over a decade but this reminds me exactly like my summer in Beijing. I thought I would have to add other items to get the flavor I wanted but when I tasted it at first it was perfect. Mixed it with broth like it suggested and we were ready to go. Hunting for other flavors

I was a little hesitant to buy these since I was brand new to the hotpot world and bought a pot for myself. they came more quickly then expected, it does say to use soup stock (i used chicken) to help the flavors a little bit which makes sense, but man do these pack a punch, just used 1 in about 3 cups of stock and 1 cup of water, even tho it says they are for 2 cups of liquid, deff use 4 cups per 1 cube it was still so good. and my mouth was so numbing and tingly from the spice but that's what I was hopping for (Getting things that are advertised as spicy and then they aren't is the wooorst) I WILL be stocking up on these again!

I wanted to love it and it smelled just like the hot pot restaurant but the numbing sensation was so intense it was hard to enjoy it past the first couple bites.

Fantastic for homemade hotpot, it really tastes like restaurant quality when combined with a good pork broth, lots of numbing spice is there. We call it the 'spicy soap of doom'. Recommend using it at half the recommended amount at first-1 square for 1qt of stock, and that's plenty spicy for most.

This Sichuan hot pot soup base tastes very authentic and full of flavour. The spice level is perfect and has that classic Szechuan kick without being overwhelming. It’s easy to prepare and creates a rich, aromatic broth that’s great with meat, seafood, and vegetables. Definitely feels like proper Chinese hot pot at home. Would happily buy again! 🌶️🍲
